China has played a leading role in the global fight against the coronavirus through the use of AI for prediction, screening, contact tracing, quick diagnosis, automated deliveries, and laboratory drug discovery. Therefore, PASTIC/PSF has joined hands with Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU), China to collaborate a series of online China Pakistan Science Workshops. The first workshop of this series titled “Use of Artificial Intelligence Against COVID-19” was successfully held on 23 July, 2020 at 10:00-14:00 hrs (Pakistan Time) over zoom meeting. The main objective of this workshop was to strengthen the ability of Pakistani professionals in the field of AI and emerging technologies to combat this pandemic.
More than 100 Pakistani Science & Technology professionals participated in this online training. The Opening Ceremony was presided over by Di Yuna, Dean of the Department of International Business Management of the School of International Economics and Management. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General PASTIC said that through this bilateral cooperation between Pakistan-China, capacity of our scientific and technological workforce will be strengthened. Prof. Chen Wei and Prof. Zheng Zike were the resource persons of the training workshop.
The remaining trainings from this series will be held in the month of August entitled "Innovative Technology in the Application of Locust Control" and other entitled "Science and Technology Information Management and Science and Technology Report Publication".
