PASTIC National Centre and Sub-Centre Karachi organized training workshop on 'Library and Information Management' at Quaid-i-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology, (QUEST), Nawabshah from 5-7 March, 2012. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Muhammad Khalid, Deputy Director (STI), Sub-Centre Karachi.
The objective of the workshop was to acquaint the library/information professional with information handling and management techniques for enabling the participants to automate their libraries. 38 participants mainly librarians and computer personnel of different academic and research organizations attended the workshops. Ms. Kausar Sohail, Sr. Scientific Information Officer and Mr. Nisar Ahmed, System Analyst from PASTIC Islamabad were the main Resource Persons. Mrs. Mumtaz Memon Qazi, Ex-Chief Librarian, MUET also delivered a lecture.
Presentations and hands on training on WIN/ISIS Package were provided to the participants. ABCD (Automation of Libraries and Documentation Centers) which is a multilingual, Open Source, Web application for the management of libraries, containing core library functions such as acquisitions, cataloging, lending and database administration was also included in this workshop.
