A Two-Days Training on Project Management and Technology Transfer Held Under Pakistan Science Foundation’s Competitive Research Program
A two-days training workshop on Project Management, Technology Development, and Technology Transfer was successfully conducted under the Pakistan Science Foundation’s (PSF) Competitive Research Program (CRP) from July 14 - 15, 2025, at the Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center (PASTIC), Quaid-i-Azam University Campus, Islamabad.
The workshop brought together CRP project’s team and aimed to strengthen their capacity in managing research projects, developing technologies, and transferring innovations to market. Sessions covered global and local best practices in prototyping and emphasized strategies for overcoming the critical “valley of death” — the often-challenging transition from research to commercialization.
A key focus of the training was the introduction of Technology Readiness Level (TRL)-based funding approaches, modeled after the European Innovation Council (EIC) Transition funding framework. These strategies are designed to guide high-potential innovations through high-risk development stages, enhancing their chances of successful commercialization.
The initiative reflects PSF’s continued commitment to fostering a research and innovation ecosystem that delivers real-world impact by equipping scientists and technologists with the tools and knowledge necessary for effective project execution and technology deployment.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, acknowledging the participants’ dedication and the skills they acquired. Special thanks to Dr. Muhammad Usman, Data Science Specialist at PASTIC, Islamabad, for delivering the lectures and sharing the valuable knowledge with the participants.
