Islamabad, September 22, 2026 — The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), National Centre, Islamabad, successfully organized a capacity-building workshop on Microsoft Office applications for Science Assistants and Ministerial Staff of the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF). The training focused on enhancing participants’ practical digital skills and improving efficiency in official documentation, data management, and presentation development.
The day-long, hands-on workshop was held at the PASTIC IT Lab and conducted by Dr. Maryum Ibrar, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC. It provided practical training in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with an emphasis on routine office and administrative work.
Through interactive demonstrations and workplace-based exercises, participants learned document formatting, professional report preparation, Mail Merge, advanced Excel formulas and functions, and data analysis and reporting using PivotTables.
Pre-training and post-training assessments were conducted to evaluate improvements in participants’ knowledge and practical skills.
The workshop concluded with a keynote address by the Director General, PASTIC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh. He highlighted the importance of continuous professional development and regularly updating employees’ digital skills. He emphasized that practical skills in modern office applications can improve workplace productivity, operational efficiency, and the quality of administrative processes.
The initiative reflects PASTIC’s continued commitment to capacity building through practical training in information technology, digital tools, research support, and data management.
