Islamabad, September 04, 2026: The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), National Center, Islamabad, organized a webinar on “LaTeX for Scientific Writing” on 04 September 2026. The webinar was attended by 70 researchers, faculty members, and students from universities and research organizations across Pakistan.
The webinar focused on introducing participants to the fundamentals of scientific writing and highlighting the importance of effective and professionally structured writing in academic and research work. Participants were also provided with an overview of LaTeX, a document preparation system widely used for preparing research papers, theses, technical reports, and other scholarly documents.
During the session, participants were introduced to Overleaf, a web-based platform that facilitates the creation and collaborative editing of LaTeX documents. The practical session covered commonly used LaTeX commands, document structure, formatting, and essential elements required for preparing a basic research paper.
The webinar provided researchers and students with a practical starting point for adopting LaTeX in their academic and research writing. Particular emphasis was placed on its usefulness in preparing professionally formatted research manuscripts, theses, reports, and technical documents.
The session received an encouraging response, with active participation from researchers, faculty members, and students representing universities and research organizations from different parts of the country. The participants appreciated the practical orientation of the webinar and its relevance to academic and research writing.
The initiative is part of PASTIC’s continued efforts to strengthen research capacity, promote the use of modern research tools, and enhance scientific writing and scholarly communication skills among researchers, academics, and students across Pakistan.
PASTIC will continue to organize similar training programmes, webinars, and capacity-building activities to support the research community and facilitate the adoption of modern tools and technologies in scientific research and communication.
