Peshawar, 3 July 2026: The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), Regional Office Peshawar, successfully conducted an orientation session on the National Journal Archive (NJA) and Pakistan Scientific Abstracts (PSA) at Qurtuba University of Science and Information Technology, Peshawar.
The session aimed to enhance awareness of PASTIC’s national scientific databases and promote their effective utilisation among faculty members, researchers, journal editors, and university leadership.
The orientation was delivered in hybrid mode by Dr. Maryum Ibrar, Additional Director, PASTIC Islamabad, who joined the session online, and Dr. Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional Director, PASTIC–PSF Regional Office Peshawar, who conducted the session in person.
Faculty members, heads of departments, and senior university leadership actively participated in the orientation. The prominent participants included Dr. Saiful Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Khan, Dean; Dr. Amir Ullah, Director ORIC; Dr. Muhammad Saeed; Dr. Aziz Ur Rehman; and Dr. Irshad Ahmad Yousafzai, Managing Editor of Journals.
During the session, participants were introduced to the major features, access mechanisms, coverage, and research benefits of NJA and PSA. The resource persons explained how these national information resources can facilitate access to Pakistani scientific literature, support academic and scholarly research, and improve the visibility and utilisation of locally published research.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer discussion, during which participants shared their observations and sought further information regarding the effective use of PASTIC’s databases and research-support services.
The active participation and discussion reflected Qurtuba University’s strong interest in strengthening institutional research support and promoting the effective utilisation of national scientific information resources.
The successful completion of the orientation reflects PASTIC’s continued commitment to promoting access to scientific information, supporting researchers and academic institutions, strengthening research capacity, and enhancing the visibility of Pakistani scholarly literature.
