4thAugust 2026: The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC),Regional Office Peshawar, in collaboration with the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Swat, successfully organized an online orientation session on “Promotion and Utilisation of PASTIC Databases (PSA & NJA).”
The session was organized for faculty members and MPhil and PhD scholars of the University of Swat. It aimed to enhance awareness of PASTIC’s services and encourage the academic and research community to effectively utilise its digital information resources for education, research, and scholarly activities.
During the orientation, participants were introduced to PASTIC key databases and online research resources, including Pakistan Science Abstracts (PSA), the National Digital Archive of Scientific Journals of Pakistan (NJA), and the National Scientists Directory (NSD).
The session also highlighted PASTIC scientific information and research-support services, which facilitate access to scholarly literature, promote the visibility of Pakistani research, connect researchers and scientists, and support evidence-based academic and scientific activities.
The orientation was delivered by Dr. Ghazala Ali Khan and Mr. Saif Ullah Azeem from PASTIC, along with Mr. Nabi Buksh. The resource persons provided participants with an overview of the available databases, their scope, and their usefulness for locating relevant scientific information and supporting academic research.
The session was coordinated by Dr. Ghulam Nabi, Manager ORIC, University of Swat, whose coordination and collaborative efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the activity.
The successful completion of the orientation session further strengthened collaboration between PASTIC and ORIC, University of Swat, and promoted greater awareness and utilisation of PASTIC databases and information services among faculty members and research scholars.
The activity reflects PASTIC continued commitment to promoting access to scientific information, supporting researchers, strengthening institutional collaboration, and enhancing the utilisation of national digital research resources within Pakistan’s academic and scientific community.
