Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) in collaboration with Riphah International University organized 2-days National Information Security Seminar here on 6-7 June, 2011.
The main objective of the seminar was to create awareness about current cyber incidents (hacking) and cyber crimes management by developing public-private partnership to cope with these cyber security challenges.
The Renowned scientist Dr. Samar Mubarik Mund was the Chief Guest at the Occasion. While addressing to the audience he emphasized on the seriousness of the issue that may lead to major economic and social damages. He appreciated PASTIC and PSF for providing a common forum to develop public private partnership to discuss cyber security issues in Pakistan.
Dr.Manzoor H. Soomro, Chairman Pakistan Foundation in his address highlighted that there is a dire need to develop common mechanisms and networks to prevent, mitigate and react to large-scale cyber attacks and cyber and to identify what key assets, resources and functions are necessary to ensure the continuity of vital ICT services.
The event was attended by Executives and Information Security personals. The First Seminar held a year back highly sensitized the public and private sector in terms of importance and implementation of cyber security in Pakistan. This series of seminar is first of its kind and proved beneficial in spawning response of concerned authorities.
