PASTIC sub centre Peshawar participated in “Three-Day International Symposium, Basic Techniques in Research, Dissertation and Paper Writing in Life Sciences” at HAZARA University on July 27, 2010

PASTIC has been providing information services that aim at fulfilling the information needs of researchers and scientists particularly the Universities research scholars and faculty members by providing them bibliographic search, research papers / articles published in national as well as international journals. In this context PASTIC sub centre Peshawar participated in “Three-Day International Symposium, Basic Techniques in Research, Dissertation and Paper Writing in Life Sciences” at HAZARA University on July 27, 2010, organized by Institute of Research Promotion, Lahore.

The Symposiums was started by the recitation of Holy Quran and hadia-e-Naat, Dr. Farzana Perveen Chairperson Zoology department Mansehra University briefly talked about the aims and objectives of the symposium where as Prof. Dr. Syed Sakhawat Shah, V.C, Hazara University delivered the welcome address.

In the Technical Session Dr. Asghari Maqsood, from Centre of Chemical Engineering & Material Sciences NUST, Islamabad delivered the first presentation on “How to Minimize Experimental Errors”. Whereas second presentation was delivered by Dr. Akram Shah, department of Zoology University of Peshawar, “Basic Techniques for Research Planning”.

Third presentation was delivered by Mrs. Ghazala yasmeen Malik (Dy. Director PASTIC) on “PASTIC and its S&T information Services”. The presentation was designed to explain the young scholars about the PASTIC anticipatory S&T information services including a) to get access to their relevant bibliographic literature search by the keywords. b) to avail document supply service at highly subsidized rates. c) to utilize science reference library. d) PASTIC publications.

At the end of the seminar a very effective question answer session was held where students and faculty members ask number of questions regarding PASTIC services. A total of 300 participants including students of HAZARA University & Scientists from different Universities & S&T organizations attended the symposium.
