October 16, 2019, Islamabad - A five member Chinese Delegation of senior officials from Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST), China visited Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), Islamabad on 16th October 2019 and a meeting was held with the senior officers of the PASTIC and the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).

The delegation was comprising of Ms. Wu Yuan (Deputy Director, BAST), Mr. Li Yunfei (Executive Vice President, BHAST), Mr. Sun Xun (Deputy Director, BCEC), Mr. Zhang Jun (Section Chief, BAST), and Mr. Jia Wei (First Secretary (S&T), Chinese Embassy Pakistan). Prof. Dr Muhammad Akram Shaikh Director General PASTIC warmly welcomed the guests. Delegation visited different sections of PASTIC to acquaint them about the delivery of various S&T information services delivered by the organization. DG PASTIC gave a brief introduction about services of PASTIC. Mr. Li Yunfei (Executive Vice President, BHAST) briefed about the roles of BAST as the bridge between S & T organizations and entrepreneurs for effective utilization of S & T research. During the meeting, the officials of the two organizations discussed avenues for bilateral mutual collaboration. Representatives of both the countries agreed upon bilateral cooperation by establishing appropriate mechanisms for Agreement. Avenues identified for mutual collaboration were capacity building and participation of PASTIC/PSF researchers towards improvement of Public Science literacy. In the end the Chinese delegation expressed hopes of future cooperation between the organizations of the two friendly neighboring countries.

DG PASTIC paid thanks to the Chinese delegation and presented souvenir/shields to the delegates.
