Workshop on "KOHA” (Open Source Library Software) at Faisalabad

A one day workshop was organized by PASTIC-Faisalabad in collaboration with Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), The University of Faisalabad (TUF) and Lyallpur Library Association (LLA) on Library Automation Package using KOHA at The University of Faisalabad (TUF), on April 16, 2016.

The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the capacity and skills of library professionals using the KOHA, which is a world class, most favorite, free and open source Integrated Library Software (ILS) used by hundreds of libraries around the world. This software provides all the facilities required in a library like circulation, acquisition and cataloguing of books. 40 participants attended the training workshop.

Ms. Zahida Maqbool, Dean, The University of Faisalabad (TUF) was the Chief Guest of the workshop. In her introductory remarks, she appreciated the efforts of PASTIC sub center Faisalabad & The University of Faisalabad (TUF) for organizing the said event and also the resource persons for providing the training on KOHA ILS software. Mrs. Misbah Bashir Librarian and Mr. Haseeb Azam from TUF were the resource persons of the workshop.

At the end of the workshop, Mr. Muhammad Hasnain Deputy Director PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad gave the concluding remarks and vote of thanks to the participants of the workshop. Prof. Dr. Abdul Majeed, Rector, The University of Faisalabad distributed shields & certificates among the resource persons and participants.
