New IT Portal Connects Pakistan and Japan
Pakistan is set to launch the JICA-Pakistan B2B Portal, a digital platform developed in partnership
with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to strengthen cooperation between Pakistani
and Japanese technology companies. The portal will provide a structured matchmaking system,
linking export-ready IT firms from Pakistan with Japanese
businesses seeking outsourcing services, software
development expertise, and innovation partners. Using
profile-based matching, it will assess technical
capabilities, industry relevance, and project compatibility
to foster productive collaborations. Key focus areas
include artificial intelligence, enterprise software,
healthcare IT, automotive software, data analytics, and
IT-enabled services. The initiative will also support post-
event
business
engagement,
streamline
partner
verification, and help Pakistani companies access Japan’s
expanding technology market.
Pakistan Expands AI Training Nationwide
The federal government has unveiled a plan to train one million individuals in artificial intelligence
over the next three years, aiming to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation and strengthen its
technology workforce. Addressing a ceremony, the Federal Minister for IT and Telecom said the
growing influence of artificial intelligence across industries worldwide underscores the need for
Pakistan to equip its workforce with advanced digital skills.
The minister highlighted that Pakistan’s first AI policy has
been adopted to encourage the growth of an indigenous
artificial intelligence ecosystem. Free AI training programs
will be offered to students under the initiative. The
government is also advancing digital infrastructure through
expanded spectrum availability, 5G deployment, local
technology manufacturing, and new submarine cable
projects to enhance nationwide connectivity.
Pakistan Gains Global Cybersecurity Recognition
Pakistan has strengthened its position in the international
cybersecurity community after the Pakistan National Cyber
Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) secured full membership in
the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). The
achievement grants the country’s national cyber response body
access to a global network of trusted cybersecurity organizations
dedicated to combating digital threats. Through this membership,
PKCERT will participate in threat intelligence sharing, coordinated
incident response activities, technical training programs, and

international cyber exercises. The organization has also recently joined the Asia Pacific Computer
Emergency Response Team (APCERT), expanding regional cooperation. These developments reflect
Pakistan’s growing cyber defense capabilities, adherence to international standards, and
commitment to enhancing digital resilience through stronger global and regional partnerships.
Pakistani Doctor Develops AI Skin Cancer Chatbot
A Pakistani skin cancer surgeon has developed an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot designed to
raise awareness about skin diseases and support the early detection of skin cancer. The digital tool
offers
preliminary
guidance
on
various
dermatological
conditions,
helping
users
identify potential warning signs and determine
when professional medical attention may be
needed. According to the developer, many
people overlook subtle skin changes due to
limited awareness, increasing the risk of
delayed diagnosis of serious conditions.
Developed over a period of about three months,
the
chatbot
aims
to
improve
public
understanding of skin health and encourage
timely consultations with specialists. The
surgeon stressed that the platform serves as an
educational aid and does not replace professional medical diagnosis.
IT Ministry Reviews Karachi IT Park Project
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, through the Pakistan Software
Export Board (PSEB), has initiated an independent review of the Karachi IT Park project by inviting
consultancy firms to assess key technical and contractual documents. The selected consultant will
evaluate feasibility studies, engineering
designs, cost estimates, technical
specifications, and other project-
related records before the next
implementation phase begins. The
review aims to address challenges that
have delayed progress, including
unsuccessful bidding rounds and
concerns
over
project
planning.
Authorities hope lessons learned from
similar infrastructure projects will help
improve procurement conditions and
attract contractors. Estimated to cost
over Rs. 31 billion, the Karachi IT Park is expected to host more than 200 technology companies and
strengthen Pakistan’s digital innovation ecosystem.

JazzWorld Launches IoT Weather Monitoring Station
To mark World Environment Day and support its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by
2050, JazzWorld has launched an IoT enabled weather monitoring station at its headquarters in
Islamabad. The platform collects real time environmental data, including temperature, humidity,
rainfall, wind conditions, and atmospheric pressure, providing localized weather intelligence.
Powered by Internet of Things technology and artificial
intelligence analytics, the system converts weather
observations into actionable insights for environmental
monitoring,
operational
planning,
and
climate
preparedness. The initiative aims to strengthen
resilience against climate related risks such as floods,
heatwaves, droughts, and extreme rainfall. JazzWorld
also plans to share the station’s data with the Pakistan
Meteorological Department to support national
weather forecasting and observation efforts.
Six Science Education Centers Planned in Sindh
The Sindh government has announced plans to establish six divisional science education centers to
strengthen practical learning and modernize science education in public schools. The initiative
includes an annual schedule of observation based educational visits, giving students hands on
exposure to science, heritage, and cultural sites across
the province. Officials said the program aims to replace
rote learning with interactive experiences that
encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation.
The government is also working with a science
museum to provide free educational tours under a
formal partnership. Financial support has already been
approved for the initiative, which is expected to
expand opportunities for experiential learning and
inspire greater student interest in science and
technology.
UAF Develops Pakistan's First Vegetable Nursery Transplanter
Researchers at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad have developed Pakistan’s first
multifunctional vegetable nursery transplanter to improve
farming efficiency and lower production costs. The machine
can prepare planting beds, lay mulch and drip irrigation lines,
and transplant four rows of vegetable seedlings in a single
operation. Experts say the innovation supports efficient
water use through uniform planting and improved irrigation
management, making it valuable in addressing water scarcity
and climate related challenges. Designed to suit local farming

conditions, the transplanter is expected to reduce labour requirements, cut operational expenses,
improve plant survival rates, and enhance vegetable quality. This technology will promote
sustainable and more profitable vegetable production across the country.
AeroFusion 2026 to Unite Pakistan's Aerospace Talent
The Ministry of IT and Telecom is launching AeroFusion 2026, a national hackathon designed to
foster innovation in aerospace, aviation, and emerging technologies. Organized by the National
Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) with support from the Ignite National
Technology Fund and industry partners, the
event
will
bring
together
students,
researchers, startups, and professionals to
solve real world challenges. Participants will
develop solutions in areas including artificial
intelligence, robotics, autonomous systems,
IoT, drone technologies, advanced materials,
and secure communications. Outstanding
teams may qualify for NICAT’s incubation
programme, gaining access to mentorship,
technical
support,
and
networking
opportunities.
Balochistan Opens First Women's AI Lab
Balochistan has established its first Entrepreneurship AI Lab for Women to promote digital inclusion,
entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment. Launched in collaboration with the Women
Development Department and DOCH Private Limited, the facility will provide training in artificial
intelligence, digital technologies, business development, and entrepreneurial skills. Officials said the
initiative aims to equip women with capabilities that meet the demands of the modern digital
economy
while
encouraging
greater
participation
in
technology and innovation. The
AI lab is expected to support
women in pursuing freelancing,
online businesses, technology
driven startups, and other
income
generating
opportunities. The initiative is
intended to strengthen women's
economic independence while
contributing to the province's
broader
socioeconomic
development.

NEO Becomes World's First Commercial Brain Chip
China has made a significant breakthrough in neurotechnology after its medical regulator approved
the commercial use of the NEO
brain-computer
interface
(BCI),
making it the world’s first invasive
brain implant to receive such
authorization beyond clinical trials.
Developed jointly by a technology
company
and
university
researchers, the coin-sized device is
designed to help people with
paralysis caused by spinal cord
injuries regain motor functions by
translating
brain
signals
into
movement commands. Unlike some
competing systems that penetrate
brain tissue, NEO’s sensors are
placed on the brain’s outer
protective membrane, reducing
procedural complexity and risks. The device has also been integrated into China’s national health
insurance system, improving accessibility for eligible patients.
Pakistan's Largest Data Centre Gets $230 Million Boost
Quantum Global Data Center (QGDC), part of the Gul Ahmed Energy Group, has announced a $230
million investment to develop Pakistan’s
largest Tier III data centre, with total
investment potentially reaching $600
million over the next few years. The
initiative follows a strategic partnership
with
Huawei
Pakistan
aimed
at
strengthening
the
country’s
digital
infrastructure. The project will include a
state of the art science and technology
park and provide secure, scalable facilities
for cloud computing, artificial intelligence,
high-performance
computing,
digital
finance,
and
e-government
services.
Officials believe the development will
boost local data hosting capacity, enhance
data sovereignty, attract investment, and support Pakistan’s transition toward a technology driven
economy while meeting growing demand for advanced digital services.

Engineer Builds AI Laser Mosquito Defense System
A computer vision engineer has created an AI-powered mosquito elimination system that combines
deep learning, robotics, and laser targeting technology. The project uses a custom trained vision
model developed from thousands of mosquito images
captured with a high-magnification camera. Once a
mosquito is detected, the system tracks its movement
and directs a precision mounted laser to neutralize the
insect in real time. To enhance safety, an additional
wide angle camera monitors the surroundings and
prevents laser activation whenever people or
potentially hazardous objects are detected nearby.
After testing the setup at home, the developer
reported that the system successfully eliminated all
mosquitoes overnight. The project highlights how
accessible hardware and AI tools are enabling advanced robotics innovations for individual creators.
Bots Surpass Humans on the Internet
Internet traffic has reached a historic turning point, with automated bots now generating more web
requests than humans for the first time. The shift is being driven largely by the rapid rise of AI-
powered agents that perform online tasks such as
research, price comparisons, and content gathering on
behalf of users. Experts note that a single AI query can
trigger thousands of website visits, significantly
increasing automated activity across the web. While
many bots perform legitimate functions, including
indexing and data retrieval, their growing presence is
creating challenges for publishers, advertisers, and
website operators by increasing server loads and
affecting traffic analytics. The shift marks a new phase
in internet usage, where automated systems are
increasingly responsible for generating and consuming online content.
Vitamin D-Based Drug Enters Cancer Treatment Trial
Researchers have reported promising findings from a
clinical trial evaluating a synthetic vitamin D analog
alongside standard chemotherapy for metastatic
pancreatic cancer. The study, which included 36
patients, found that the treatment combination was
safe and produced biological changes within the tumor
environment. The therapy reduced fibroblast activity
while allowing more immune cells to enter tumors.
Researchers also observed improved chemotherapy

responses and longer progression free survival among treated patients. The most favorable
outcomes were seen in participants with higher levels of vitamin D receptor expression, encouraging
further research into this therapeutic approach.
New Era in Visual Restoration Technology
Researchers have successfully completed the third implantation of
an intracortical visual prosthesis designed to provide artificial vision
for people with total blindness. The wireless brain implant bypasses
damaged eyes and optic nerves, connecting directly to the brain’s
visual cortex to generate visual perceptions. In the latest procedure,
surgeons implanted 34 stimulators containing 544 electrodes to
support the system’s operation. Scientists believe the technology
could offer a potential solution for individuals with no light
perception, for whom conventional vision restoration approaches
are not suitable. The ongoing clinical study will evaluate whether the device can improve navigation
and the performance of basic visually guided tasks. Researchers are continuing to recruit volunteers
to further assess the technology’s effectiveness.
Scientists Create First Chicken from Artificial Egg
Researchers at Colossal Biosciences have successfully hatched 26 healthy chicks from fully artificial
eggs, marking a significant advance in reproductive
biotechnology. The technology replaces the natural
eggshell with a specially designed artificial structure
that provides the conditions needed for embryo
development, including gas exchange and protection.
Scientists believe the system could play a key role in
future efforts to revive extinct bird species by
supporting embryos that cannot develop inside
conventional eggs. The company plans to apply the
approach to projects involving the extinct dodo and
the giant moa of New Zealand. Researchers say the
breakthrough
demonstrates
the
potential
of
engineered
incubation
systems
to
support
conservation, species restoration, and other advances in avian biotechnology.
Solar Panel Generates Power from Sunlight and Rain
Researchers have developed a hybrid energy harvesting device
that generates electricity from both sunlight and rainfall, offering
a more reliable source of renewable power. The system combines
perovskite solar cells with a specially engineered thin protective
film that improves durability while converting the impact of
raindrops into electrical energy. Laboratory tests showed the

coating could produce more than 100 volts from a single raindrop, enough to power small electronic
devices. The technology also protects solar cells from moisture and harsh environmental conditions,
extending their operational life. Scientists believe the innovation could support Internet of Things
devices, environmental sensors, weather stations, smart city infrastructure, and remote monitoring
systems that require continuous outdoor power.
LHC Experiment Reveals Lead Turning into Gold
Scientists at CERN have experimentally confirmed that high energy lead nuclei collisions at the Large
Hadron Collider can briefly transform lead
into gold. The process occurs during near
miss
collisions,
where
powerful
electromagnetic
fields
remove
three
protons from a lead nucleus, producing a
gold nucleus. Researchers measured the
phenomenon using the ALICE detector,
marking the first systematic observation of
this form of nuclear transmutation. During
the collider’s second operating period,
about 86 billion gold nuclei were produced,
although the total mass amounted to only
29 picograms and existed for only a fraction
of a second. Scientists say the findings will improve understanding of nuclear interactions and help
optimize the performance of future particle accelerators.
University of Sharjah Patents Earthquake-Resistant Device
Researchers at the University of Sharjah have secured a United States patent for a low cost
earthquake resistant device that uses sand and other granular materials to reduce seismic vibrations
in buildings. Designed to dissipate earthquake energy, the
system achieved damping efficiencies ranging from 37 to 75
percent during testing, outperforming many conventional
vibration control technologies. The device features a simple,
adaptable design that can be manufactured using readily
available materials, making it suitable for regions with limited
resources. Beyond earthquake protection, it can also reduce
vibrations caused by strong winds and passing trains.
Researchers believe the innovation could improve the safety
and resilience of residential, commercial, public, and transport infrastructure.
Japan Develops Hypersonic Engine for Two-Hour US Flights
Japanese researchers have successfully tested a Mach 5
hypersonic engine, marking an important step toward
the future of ultra-fast commercial air travel. Developed

through a collaboration involving universities and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the
technology could eventually enable flights between Japan and the United States in about two hours.
The engine was tested under conditions simulating high altitude flight, evaluating its thermal
protection, propulsion, and control systems. Scientists expect commercial development could take
up to two decades because hypersonic aircraft must withstand extreme temperatures and
aerodynamic forces. The successful engine test represents an early milestone in efforts to make
hypersonic passenger travel a practical reality.
China Launches First Universal Household Robot “Shiguang S1” in Wuhan
China has introduced its first general
purpose household robot, Shiguang S1,
designed to assist with everyday domestic
activities. Developed by robotics company
GigaBrain and launched in Wuhan's Optics
Valley, the AI powered robot can fold
clothes, prepare meals, clear dining tables,
and interact with elderly family members.
The company said the robot uses its self-
developed embodied intelligence model,
enabling
it
to
understand
home
environments, plan actions independently,
and continuously learn new tasks. A built in
safety mechanism automatically stops the
robot if it comes into contact with a person
or pet. GigaBrain also plans to launch its next
generation AI model, GigaBrain 1, in the third quarter of 2026.
Solar-powered Gel Pulls Drinking Water from the Air
Researchers at Stanford University have
developed a solar powered hydrogel that
can extract drinking water from the
atmosphere while offering significantly
improved durability over previous designs.
The new material remains effective for
more than eight months and over 190 water
harvesting cycles, compared with about 30
cycles for earlier hydrogels. A corrosion
resistant
metal
coating
prevents
degradation, allowing the hydrogel to safely
collect and release water using sunlight. The
system can produce up to two litres of
potable water per day from a panel about the size of a bath towel. Researchers believe the low cost
technology could help provide clean water in arid and remote regions where conventional water
sources are limited.

New Brain Implant Restores Hearing Control
Scientists at Columbia University have successfully tested a brain controlled hearing system that
helps
users
focus
on
a
single
conversation in noisy environments. In
the first human studies, implanted brain
electrodes monitored neural activity to
identify which speaker participants were
listening to and automatically increased
that voice while reducing competing
conversations in real time. Unlike
conventional hearing aids that amplify
all
surrounding
sounds,
the
experimental
system
selectively
enhances the conversation the user
intends to hear. Researchers said the technology improved speech clarity, reduced listening effort,
and was preferred by volunteers. Although still at an early stage, the breakthrough could pave the
way for next generation hearing devices that better assist people with hearing loss in crowded
settings.
Innovative Packaging: Smart Containers and Paper Solutions
Packaging manufacturers are introducing new products that combine functionality, sustainability,
and improved consumer appeal. Recent
innovations include a lightbulb-shaped
recyclable beverage container featuring
“glow in the dark” branding, designed to
enhance product visibility and user
experience. In the foodservice sector,
companies have unveiled black fiber-
based trays and bowls as alternatives to
difficult-to-recycle
black
plastic
packaging. Other developments include
a grease and oil resistant paperboard for
food packaging that eliminates the need
for
polyethylene
coatings
while
remaining recyclable and compostable.
Additionally, a new bio-based coating material made from fermented sugars has been launched for
paper cups and food containers, providing resistance to liquids, oils, and grease. These innovations
reflect the packaging industry's growing focus on sustainability and performance.
