Workshop on “Free Digital Resources”
PASTIC Sub Centre, Faisalabad organized one day
workshop on “Free Digital Resources'' on September 9,
2022 at Govt. College University Faisalabad (GCUF).
Total 88 participants (Directors, HODs, PhD Researchers,
and Students,) from various faculties participated. Session
was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran
followed by welcome address by Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf
Bhatti, Director, ORIC GCUF. Remarks and introduction
to PASTIC services was delivered by Muhammad
Hasnain, Deputy Director (STI), PASTIC Faisalabad. The
resource person was Ch. Muhammad Nadeem Akhtar
Chief Librarian AARI-Faisalabad. Participants/Scientists
also appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of PASTIC
for organizing such a successful workshop.

“Consortium launching ceremony of Journal
Publishers at Bahawalpur''
Consortium launching ceremony of Journal Publishers for
Southern Punjab Region along with Project Awareness
Activity was held on September 20, 2022 at the
Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Thirty
Journal Publishers/ Editors from Bahawalpur participated
in the Consortium Launching and Project Awareness
activity. Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob, Vice Chancellor IUB
was the Chief Guest of the program while, Pro vice
Chancellor IUB, Dean Faculty of Arts was the Guest of
Honor. They all appreciated PASTIC's initiative for
development of national archive for preservation of
research content.

Seminar on Importance of Intellectual Property
Rights in Academia
Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre
(PASTIC) Sub centre Lahore, the Government College
University GCU Lahore, Office of Research Innovation
and Commercialization (ORIC), and Intellectual Property
Organization (IPO) Lahore, jointly organized one-day
seminar on Importance of Intellectual Property Rights in
Academia held on September 22, 2022, in the GCU,
Lahore. Total fifty seven faculty members from various
departments of GCU attended this Seminar. Mr. Abdul
Sattar, stage secretary, welcomed guests and other
participants.

After recitation of the Holy Quran, Prof. Dr. Faiza Sharif,
Director ORIC and Chairman Faculty of Sciences,
presented the welcome note in which she introduced the
resource persons from IPO Pakistan and highlighted the
importance of Intellectual Property Rights in academia.
Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC
Sub Centre, Lahore introduced PASTIC services. He
elaborated the importance of Intellectual Property Rights
(IPRs). He also thanked Vice Chancellor, GCU, Director
ORIC and IPO team for taking their time for arranging this
seminar.
Mr. Muhammad Umar Ashraf, Director/In Charge,
Intellectual Property Organization (IPO), Lahore Region,
introduced the services of IPO, Pakistan and explained the
process used at IPO to protect Intellectual Property Rights
(IPRs) of any individual or a company. He also encouraged
the participants to get their innovation/research work
registered as a patent with IPO Pakistan to get maximum
economic benefits from their innovative research work.
Chief Guest of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, (S.I),
Vice Chancellor, GCU Lahore, shared the contribution of
the University of Lahore towards promotion of Science
and Technology to develop research culture in the
University. He valued this training seminar and
appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional
Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre, Lahore and Director
ORIC for organizing this seminar and also encouraged to
arrange such types of seminars, trainings and workshops
in future to facilitate faculty members and research
scholars. He also thanked the resource persons Mr.
Muhammad Umar and Ms. Shakra Khurshid from IPO.
PASTIC Sub Centre Quetta, with the collaboration of
Chemistry Department, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women's
University Quetta, arranged one day workshop on “Bio-
Safety”, on September 20, 2022. at SBK Women's
University (Hanna Hall), Quetta. Mr. Imran Ali, Associate
Professor, Institute of Bio-Chemistry, University of
Baluchistan Quetta was the Resource Person. Fifty two
Students (Ph.D, M.Phil & BS) and 20 Faculty members
attended the workshop.

Workshop on "Effective Research Poster Design”
PASTIC Sub Center, Karachi in (PSCK) Collaboration

Commercialization (ORIC) of Malir University of Science
and Technology organized a one day Workshop on
"Effective Research Poster Design” on September 19,
2022 at Malir University of Science and Technology,
The Workshop was participated by more than 60 Students
including HOD's i.e Mr. Mudasir , Ms. S. Farah Batool,
Ms.Ujala Sajid, Mr. Faiza Hassan & Faculty Members of
Malir University of Science and Technology.
The Session was started with the recitation of Holy Quran,
followed by a welcome address by Ms. Afsheen Tariq,
Assistant Director (STI) PASTIC Sub Center, Karachi. She
briefed PASTIC Services & S&T Information portal
through the PASTIC website with the documentary video
of PASTIC/PSF.
Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akber, Dean Faculty of Allied Health
Sciences was the resource person of the Workshop. She
gave a detailed presentation about Poster Design. A
Fruitfull Question/Answers session was also conducted.
Science Exhibition
Officer Incharge PSC Quetta Mr. Abdul Khalique Sial,
arranged one day Science Exhibition on September 27,
2022 at Government High School, Pashtoonabad Quetta.

SPSS & Origin. During the training an Interactive
Question/Answers session was also conducted.

September 9, 2022 to discuss the future collaboration
between the two organizations. The meeting was attended

University of Science & Technology (UST-Bannu) and IT
Board Peshawar organized Grand Graduation Ceremony
of DURSHAL (UST-Bannu) Start-up Project on
September 28, 2022 at Manal Peshawar. Additional
Director (STI) PSC, Peshawar participated as guest of
honor. The 03 years' project was joint venture of KP IT
Board, Government of Khyber Pukhankhwa and UST-
Bannu. Prof. Dr. Kher-o-Zaman (Vice Chancellor, UST-
Bannu), Prof. Dr. Sultan Mehmood (Pro-Vice Chancellor,
UST-Bannu, Prof. Dr. Aurangzeb Khan (Dean of IT and

4 . Science Caravan Exhibition
Additional Director (STI) PSC, Peshawar visited the
School Exhibition of Science Caravan KP Units on
September 27, 2022 at Government Girls Higher
Secondary School University Town Peshawar. Additional
Director (STI) PSC, Peshawar closely observed all the
activities of Science Caravan for the school children. Later,
she also met the head mistress of the school and other
teachers of the school and gave briefing about the future
activities of Science Caravan.
