One-day Training Workshop on “Citation and
Literature Management using Mendeley Software''
PATIC Sub Center Lahore with the collaboration of
Government College University, Lahore (GCUL)
organized one-day training workshop on “Citation and
literature Management using Mendeley Software” on
October 24, 2022 at GCUL. Total 43 faculty members
attended this workshop from different departments of
Government College University, Lahore. Mr. Abdul Sattar,
stage secretary, welcomed guests, faculty members and
other participants.
After recitation of the Holy Quran, Prof. Dr. Faiza Sharif,
Director ORIC and Chairperson Faculty of Sciences,
presented the welcome note in which she introduced the
resource persons of Training/workshop Mr. Nadeem
Sohail, the official Trainer and Adviser of Mendeley in
Pakistan (Deputy Manager LRC, UMT Sialkot). He
highlighted the importance of “Citation and literature
Management using Mendeley Software”
Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC
introduced PASTIC services, explained the role of
Pakistan Science Foundation and PASTIC in capacity
building and discussed the importance of Mendeley
software as Research and Bibliographic Management
Citation tool.
Chief Guest of the workshop Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi (TI),
Vice Chancellor, Government College University Lahore
(GCUL), shared Government College University Lahore
contribution towards promotion of research culture in
University. He valued this training workshop and
encouraged to arrange such type of sessions in
future to facilitate Faculty Members
Researchers and Scholars.
Mr. Nadeem Sohail, Deputy Manager LRC, theoretically
and practically presented what, why and how citation
management is. Mr. Nadeem Sohail, Deputy Manager
LRC, helped all participants in practical testing of this
software.
At the end, shields were distributed among guests and
resource persons. Participants also received their
certificates. Dr. Muhammad Farhan, Associate Professor,
Department of Sustainable Development, GCU Lahore,
have given the vote of thanks at the closing of workshop.

Online Workshop on “Mendeley - Reference
Management Software''
PASTIC Faisalabad arranged an online workshop on
“Mendeley - Reference Management Software'' on
October 13, 2022 at Khwaja Fareed University of
Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT)
Rahem Yar Khan. Total 50 participants including
Researchers, PhD Students, Directors and HODs from
various universities have participated. Session was started
with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by

welcome address by Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy
Director PASTIC Faisalabad. The presentation/training on
workshop was delivered by Dr. Maryam Ibrar Shinwari,
Additional Director (STI) PASTIC Islamabad.
Participants/Scientists also appreciated and thanks to
PASTIC efforts to hold a successful workshop.
PASTIC Sub Centre Quetta in collaboration with Sardar
Bahadur Khan Women's University Quetta organized one
day training workshop on “Research Methodology/How
to write a Research Paper” on October 25, 2022 at SBK
Women's University Zoology Department, Quetta.
The target participants of the workshop were PhD, M.Phil
& BS students. A total of 60 participants attended the
workshop. Madam Nayab Khan, Lecturer, Zoology
Department, University of Balochistan Quetta, was the
resource person.
Prof. Dr. Naheed Haq, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SBK
Women's University, was the Chief Guest at the closing
ceremony. She threw light on the importance of workshop
which will have far reaching effects. Mr. Abdul Khalique
Sial, Officer In-Charge, PASTIC Quetta paid special
thanks to Dr. Gul Makai, Head of Zoology department,
SBK Women's University, Quetta for her cooperation to
organized the workshop. In the end Prof. Dr. Naheed Haq,
Pro-V.C. SBK Women's University Quetta, Dr. Gul Makai,
Head of Zoology department, SBK Women's University
Quetta and Mr. Abdul Khalique Sial, Officer In-Charge
PSC Quetta, distributed certificates and shields among the
participants, resource person and organization.

participated. Session was started with the recitation from

introduction to PASTIC services and words of thanks was

Seminar on World Food Day 2022 “Leave no one
Behind”
PASTIC Sub Center Karachi in collaboration with
Department of Food Science & Technology, University of
Karachi organized one day seminar on World Food Day
2022 “ Leave no one Behind” on October 18, 2022 at
Department of Food Science & Technology, University of
Karachi.
After recitation of the Holy Quran, Dr. Shahina Naz,
Chairperson Department of Food Science, university of
Karachi gave introductory remarks & highlighted the
significance of Food Science. During presentation she
mentioned that the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed an
additional 88 million persons to 115 million people into
extreme poverty.

Participants of the Seminars.
The Seminar was participated by more than 300
participants including Chairpersons, faculty members,
HOD's from different universities of Sindh, R&D

PASTIC Karachi Organized a Webinar on "Ethical
Avenues & Conducting Research” via a zoom meeting on
October 31, 2022 at PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi. The
webinar was participated by more than 95 researchers of
different universities and R&D Institutions from Sindh,
Punjab, KPK & Baluchistan.

Conference” organized by Pakistan Society of Basic &
Applied Neuroscience (PASBAN) at Dow International
Medical College (DIMC), Ojha Campus, Dow University
of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi, Pakistan. During
conference A.D (STI) PSCK conducted meetings with
faculty members/organizers for Promotion of PASTIC
services.

Additional Director PASTIC Sub centre, Peshawar attend
the “6th International Conference on Sustainability in
Process Industry (SPI) 2022” on Oct 19-20, 2022. The
conference was organized by the Department of Chemical
Engineering, (UET) Peshawar in collaboration with GIKI
Swabi at the Department of Chemical Engineering, GIKI
Swabi. The aim of the conference is to provide a
challenging forum for researchers and industry
practitioners to share their original research results and
practical development experiences on specific new
challenges and emerging issues. PASTIC on its part
published the Conference Proceeding.
