Training workshop on “Make your research
life easier with Mendeley Tool” held at
Women University, Multan
PASTIC organized its 20th training workshop on “Make
your research life easier with Mendeley Tool” on
November 1-2, 2018 at the Women University, Mattital
Campus, Multan. The objective of this workshop is to
build the capacity of young researchers for handling of
bibliographic data for thesis or research paper writing,
starting from literature search till writting of
manuscripts.
PASTIC and NGS-Pakistan organized
collaborative training workshop on “Next
Generation Sequencing Data Analysis” at
PASTIC, Islamabad

A three-day collaborative training workshop on “Next
Generation Sequencing Data Analysis” was organized
by PASTIC and NGS-Pakistan on November 14-16,
2018 at PASTIC National Centre, Islamabad. Resource
Person was Dr. Waseem Haider, Assistant Professor,
COMSATS, Islamabad, who delivered all the modules
of the said training amicably. The number of participants
was 30.

The program was started with the recitation from the
Holy Quran. Later on program introduction was
presented by Mr. Zahir Nasir, Manager Trainings
PASTIC. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director
General PASTIC gave the welcome remarks to the
participants. Dr. Syed Aftab Hussain Shah, Sr. SIO,
PASTIC was the co-organizer of the workshop. At the
end of the workshop, shields were distributed among the
organizers, and certificates among the participants, by
DG PASTIC.
PASTIC Sub Centre Muzaffarabad organized a three-
day training workshop on “Library Automation by using
Integrated library system software ILS Koha” at Mirpur
University of Science & Technology (MUST), Mirpur
Azad Kashmir, on November, 7-9 2018. 40 library
professionals participated in this workshop. Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Sheikh briefed the participants
about the role of PASTIC in the inaugural session. Prof
Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman (SI), Vice Chancellor MUST also
addressed the participants. Mr. Syed Habib Akhter
Jaffri, Principal Librarian and Mr. Muhammad Altaf
Deputy Director (STI), delivered lectures as Resource
Persons.
PASTIC Sub-centre Karachi organized a one-day
Workshop on "Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)",
on November 22, 2018 at Newports Institute of
Communication and Economics in collaboration with
Pakistan Library Cub & Newports Institute of
Communication and Economics. 32 participants from
different universities i.e University of Karachi, IBA
Sukkur (Dadu Campus), Mehran University of
Engineering & Technology, Mohammad Ali Jinnah
University, Iqra University etc. attended the Workshop. A
Lecture was delivered byMr. Furrukh Hussain Zai,
Resource Person from Aga Khan University Hospital, on
RFID. In the closing session Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman
Memon, Rector of Newports Institute of Communication
and Economics, and Ex-Vice chancellor Mehran
University of Engineering & Technology, was the Chief
Guest of the Workshop.

PASTIC Sub Center Quetta organized a two-day
PASTIC Training Workshop on “Advance Research
Tools / EndNote” for Centre of Advance Studies in
Vaccinology & Biotechnology (CASVAB), University
of Balochistan Quetta, on November 29-30, 2018 at
University of Balochistan, for orientation of the
students. 35research scholars enrolled in M.Phil / Ph.D.
program, along with 10 faculty members, attended the
workshop. Lecture was delivered about PASTIC
services by Mr. Abdul Khalique Sial, In-Charge,
PASTIC Sub Centre, Quetta. Resource Persons, Dr. Rab
Nawaz Soomro, Assistant Director, Livestock

PASTIC Sub Centre Peshawar organized a one-day
Intellectual Property Seminar titled “Protection of
Rights on Intellectual Property of Scientists” for
scientists of Nuclear Institute of Food & Agriculture
(NIFA) Peshawar on November 15, 2018 at NIFA
Peshawar. A total of 35 scientists, including Director
NIFA, Dr. Wisal Muhammad, and all Divisional Heads
attended complete session. Mr. Zahoor Ahmad,
Manager ORIC-UOP, was the Resource Person and he
delivered comprehensive lectures related to the topic.

College Peshawar on November 19, 2018 at PASTIC
Islamabad. 40 Research Scholars enrolled in M.Phil /
Ph.D. program along with 07 faculty members attended
the seminar. Lecture was delivered about PASTIC
services, by Ms. Ghazala Ali Khan, Deputy Director

PASTIC Sub Center Peshawar organized an Awareness
Seminar on November 15, 2018 at NIFA Peshawar, for
orientation of 35scientists of NIFA Peshawar, involved
in different scientific activities at National level. Lecture
was delivered about PASTIC services by Ms. Ghazala
Ali Khan, Deputy Director PASTIC Sub Centre
Peshawar.

PASTIC Sub Centre Lahore organized an Awareness
Seminar for Polymer & Process Department, University
of Engineering & Technology Lahore, on November 7,
2018, at University of Engineering & Technology
Lahore, for orientation of the students. 30 Research
Scholars enrolled in MS/ M.Phil program along with
t w o f a c u l t y m e m b e r s a t t e n d e d t h e s e m i n a r.
Lecture/Presentation was delivered about PASTIC
services by Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Deputy Director (STI),

PASTIC awareness seminar was organized at NTU
Library auditorium on November 23, 2018. Dean,
Chairmen, Senior Faculty Members and students from
various departments participated. 53 participants
participated in the seminar. Presentation was delivered
about PASTIC services by Mr. Muhammad Hasnain,
Deputy Director PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad.
PASTIC National Center organized an Awareness
Seminar for Bioinformatics Department, Quaid-e-Azam
University Islamabad on November 06, 2018 at PASTIC
Islamabad, for orientation of the students. 37 Research
Scholars enrolled in M.Phil / Ph.D. program along with
two faculty members attended the seminar. Lecture was
delivered about PASTIC services by Mr. Muhammad
Ayub Dogar Sr.SIO (Coordination), and on Database &
Internet Searching Techniques by Mr. Muhammad

PASTIC Services Stalls
PASTIC National Center and its sub-centers regularly
organize information services stalls all over the country,
wherein PASTIC publications are displayed and
membership forms/pamphlets are distributed, and the
visitors are briefed about PASTIC services. In
continuation of this regular activity following stalls
were organized during the month of November 2018 at
the following places:-
PASTIC services stall was organized for two days during
5th KP Innovation to invention summit at CECOSE
University Peshawar on 22-23 November, 2018. Dr.
Saima Huma, Additional Director (STI) and Dr. Syed
Aftab Hussain Shah, Sr. SIO, from PASTIC National
Centre Islamabad, also visited the stalls along with many
students and faculty members from almost all
universities of KP.
