Entrepreneurship: Opportunities & Challenges
for young Generation

Entrepreneurship: Opportunities & Challenges for Young
Generation on June 14, 2022 at Iqbal Hall UOH.Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Shaikh (Director General), PASTIC
grace the event as Chief Guest along with worthy Prof. Dr.
Shafiq ur Rahman,Vice Chancellor, UOH.
Prof. Dr. Shafiq ur Rahman, VC, sharing his views regarding
entrepreneurship at UoH.

regarding entrepreneurship at UoH.
M. Kamran Khan (AP, Management Sciences UOH), Mr.
Qasid Ahmad (Mushmoom (Pvt. Ltd), Hattar and Mr.
Safeer Akhter Awan (CEO-Ammar Grinding Mill), Hattar
participated as a resource person. Dr. Samina Arshad
(UOH) & Ghazala Ali Khan played a key role to arrange
the said activity.
A total of 110 participants including faculty members and
HOD's of different departments were facilitated by the
most competent speakers. The speakers shared their grass
root level entrepreneurship experience and encouraged
young researchers and students to take risk and start their
own business to support society.Shields and certificates
were distributed by worthy vice chancellor (UOH) and
Director General (PASTIC) at the end of session.

and Ghazala Ali Khan Additional Director, PASTIC as
guest of honor.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Mehmood Baig(S.I) expressed his views
about the importance of earth sciences and integrated
approaches towards the research and development. He
also announced that PSF will sign MoU with NCEG to
upgrade its facilities and establish a Geological Museum
in near future.

03-Days Training Workshop on “Statistical
Package for Social Sciences- SPSS”.
PASTIC Sub Centre Peshawar in collaboration with
National Centre of Physical Chemistry, University of
Peshawar arranged 3 days Hand's on Training Workshop
titled: "Statistical Package for Social Sciences - SPSS”on
June 22-24 June 2022 at NCE in Physical Chemistry,
University of Peshawar.
Dr. Sadaf Manzoor (Assistant Professor) Department of
Statistics, Islamia College Peshawar was the key resource
person. The training was started with recitation of The
Holy Quran. Prof. Dr. Salma Bilal Chief Coordinator from
NCE in Physical Chemistry-UOP welcomes the
participant's guests and resource person. While, Prof. Dr.
Tahira Mehmood (NCE In Physical Chemistry-UOP)
graced the inaugural session and appreciated the efforts of
PASTIC to organize the activity in collaboration with the
Centre.
The said training was conducted in five sessions by Dr.
Sadaf Manzoor. A total of 50 participants from University
of Tabriz Iran, University of Peshawar, The Agriculture
University Peshawar, Islamia College Peshawar,
Elementary & Secondary Education Peshawar, Govt.
Degree College Hayatabad Peshawar, Quaid-e-Azam
Commerce College Peshawar and young researchers
along with faculty members from NCE in Physical
Chemistry enthusiastically participated.
3-Days International Conference: Earth Sciences
Pakistan 2022
Three days International Conference: Earth Sciences
Pakistan 2022 was organized by National Centre of
Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar
on June 25-27, 2022 at Baragali Summer Campus
University of Peshawar. Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig,
(S.I), Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF)
Prof. Dr. Akram Shaikh appreciated the efforts of Dr.
Liaqat Ali, Director NCEG, for organizing and gathering
more than 300 researchers from national and international
renowned institutes. Prof. Dr. Akram Shaikh shared his
views and experience in the areas of sustainable natural
resources, mitigation of natural hazards and impact of
climate change particularly for Pakistan. He also briefed
the audience about PASTIC activities and
services.

Peshawar, graced the closing session as chief guest along
with Ghazala Ali Khan Additional Director PASTIC, Dr.
Sareer Ahmad, Dr. Amjad Ali, Dr. Sajjad & Dr. Sadaf
Manzoor. Ghazala Ali Khan shared PASTIC/PSF active
role for scientific community in the country particularly in
Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Prof. Dr. Gul Majid Khan highly
valued the continuous support of PASTIC to train young
researchers predominantly Islamaia College. Certificates
& Shields were distributed at the end of training among
resource person, participants & organizers.
2-Days Training Workshop on “R Software
ForStatistical Computing at Peshawar
PASTIC Sub Centre Peshawar and Department of
computer science, Islamia College Peshawar jointly
organized two days Hand's on Training Workshop titled:
"R Software for Statistical Computingon June 28-29, 2022
at Islamia College Peshawar. Dr. Zardad Khan, Associate
Professor, Department of Statistics, Abdul Wali khan
University Mardan was the key resource person.
The training was stared with recitation of Holy Quran. Dr.
Sadaf Manzoor, Coordinator from Islamia College
Peshawarwelcomes the participants, guests and resource
person while, Prof. Dr. Sareer Ahmad, Director Higher
Studies, Islamia College Peshawar joined the inaugural
session along with Dr. Amjad Ali ,Chairman, Computer
Science Department.

Peshawar, on June 28, 2022. She held a meeting with all
staff of PASTIC & Caravan units. Ghazala Ali Khan, AD
PASTIC & CARAVAN Units KP, and Mr. Sher Ali Baz
Assistant Director, Caravan Unit Peshawar, briefed about
Units activities during fiscal year 2021-22 along with
issues of regional offices. Dr. Saima resolved many issues
on the spot and promised to take policy decision after
taking consent of higher authority of Pakistan Science
Foundation.

The PSF/PASTIC team also visited various institutes for
on-site monitoring, technical and financial matters of
CRP-PSF funded projects. The institutes includes UET

Agriculture University Peshawar & National Centre of
Excellence In Geology, Peshawar University.

National Digital Archive ofresearch published
in Pakistani Journals will be established at
PASTIC, Islamabad.
Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre
(PASTIC) has taken initiative to launch a National
Repository of Research published in Pakistani journals
under development project.
Consortium launching ceremony of Journal Publishers
for Punjab Region along with Project Awareness
Activity was held at Pearl Continental
Hotel, Lahore on June 11, 2022. Total
Sixty (60) Journal Publishers/Editors and representatives
from ORIC from Punjab Region. (Lahore) participated
in ConsortiumLaunching and Project Awareness activity.
Project is aimed to launch a National forum of Journals
Publishers community by facilitating free technical
support for Journal Hosting, digitization, data backups and
capacity building to achieve the Preservation of National
Research Content in Full-Text Format through
standardization along with Visualization Model to Review
Research Trends at country level. Chairman, Pakistan
Science Foundation, Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, (S.
I) was the Chief Guest of the programwhile, Director
General PASTIC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh,
was the Guest of Honor.
During opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram
Shaikh, Director General PASTIC briefly introduced the
PASTIC services and activities whereas Dr. Maryum Ibrar,
Additional Director (STI), PASTIC gave the brief
introduction about PASTIC Abstracting & Indexing
Services.
Mr. Saifullah Azim, Project Manager briefly explained the
project's aim and objective towards providing a single
electronic-platform to publisher community in Pakistan
for preservation and dissemination of indigenous research
published in Pakistani Journals.
Prof. Dr. Ikram Ul Haq (S.I) former Director, Institute of
Industrial Biotechnology, Govt. College University,
Lahore also attended the event and appreciated the
PASTIC's initiative for development of national archive
for preservation of research content.

Ghazanfar Ali, Expert/ Senior Lecture Resource Person
from Ziauddin University have given training on SPSS
Software. Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director PASTIC
Sub Centre Karachi gave presentation about PASTIC
services & its new S & T database including PSA Service
Awareness through PASTIC website and documentary of
PASTIC / PSF played and distributed Shield to Resource
person & certificates to the participants.

II. Ms. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) attended
online “5th BTBU-ECOSF Joint Training-Pathways for
Industrial Decarbonization for the Belt and Road
Countries” on June 8-9, 2022. The Event was joint
organized by Beijing Technology and Business University
(BTBU) & ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF). About 60
students from the Belt and Road countries including
Pakistan participated in the training. The training includes
policies and practices for low-carbon transition in the coal
power, cementin the coal power industry, Cement
Industry, steel industry & Chemical Industry, steel and
chemical industries and other case studies.
BTBU-ECOSF Joint Training Center aims to promote the
sustainable economic and social development of BRI
countries through training in the fields of technology
application, industrial economics, S & T standards and
science communication. The Center would serve as a
strategic training platform, which is deemed to be critical
for infrastructure development and socio-economic
growth for B & R countries, including the 10 ECOSF
member countries
