PASTIC and Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar
jointly organized a one-day training workshop on “Cus-
tomizing Journals for Indexation in SCOPUS" on January
10, 2024 at Khyber Collage of Dentistry, Peshawar. Dr.
Muhammad Marwat from Peshawar Institute of Research
D.I. Khan, was the resource person. Mr. Saif Ullah Azeem,
Project Director PASTIC shared details of PASTIC's
development project titled “National Digital Archive of
Research Published in Pakistani Journals” through an
online session. Ghazala Ali Khan Additional Director
(STI) shared PASTIC and PSF activities for researchers
throughout Pakistan.
A total of 25 participants representing all major Universi-
ties including Khyber Medical University Peshawar,
University of Science & Technology Bannu, NCE in
Geology, University of Peshawar, University of Haripur,
Women University Mardan, Abdul Wali Khan University
Mardan, Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar,
Swabi College of Education Mardan, Khyber College of
Dentistry Peshawar, Gomal Medical College D.I. Khan,
Medical Research Pvt. Ltd. Institute of Excellence in
Education and Research Peshawar and Peshawar Institute
of Research D.I. Khan attended the session.
The Dean of Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar Dr.
Syed Nasir Shah and Senior Faculty Dr. Shafqat Ali Shah
very kindly graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts
of Dr. Muhammad Marwat and team of
PASTIC for arranging such a fruitful
workshop. Dr. Syed Nasir also distributed
certificates among participants and resource person.

College of Dentistry Peshawar on January 18, 2024 and
delivered a detail presentation on “What is Research &
How to write a research paper”. She also provided a brief
introduction of PASTIC & PSF scientific activities for
young scientists. About 70 participants participated in the
workshop. Dr. Masoom Shah, Dr. Aliya and Dr. Aiman
also attended the full session.
a. PSCK Officer Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI)
participated and represented PASTIC in the “4th
International Conference on Biological Research and
Applied Sciences (IBRAS)" on January 23-25, 2024 at
Muhammad Uzair Auditorium, Jinnah University for
Women (JUW), Karachi. The conference was organized
by Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women,
Karachi in collaboration with PASTIC, PARC,
NIO, KATI, The Wild Life Experience
Centre etc.
More than 300 participants from different departments of
various universities from all over the Pakistan participated
in this event.
The conference commenced with the recitation of The
Holy Quran. Welcome Address by Ms. Wania Wajeeh
Registrar, JUW. Mr. Wajeehuddin Ahmed Chancellor,
JUW gave brief introduction about conference. The chief
guest Prof. Dr. Iqbal Afridi, HEC DNP (Distinguished
National Professor), JSMU/JPMC gave remarks about
conference. During conference A.D (STI) conducted
meetings with Chancellor, Chief Guest, keynote Speakers,
faculty members & organizers for Promotion of PASTIC
services.

Director of Atomic Energy Medical Centre (AMEC),
Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Karachi
visited PASTIC Sub Center Karachi on January 26, 2024.
Ms. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) gave him
briefing about PASTIC activities and services for
researchers. Dr. Memon showed keen interest to collabo-
rate in different services / events of PASTIC.

One Day Seminar on “Research Ethics in Articial
Intelligence”
A one-day seminar on "Research Ethics in Artificial
Intelligence" was organized on February 22, 2024, at
Pakistan Institute of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences
(PIRMS) by PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi in collaboration
with PIRMS, Karachi. It aimed to shed light
on the ethical dimensions of conducting

Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI) PASTIC,
explained various PASTIC services aimed to maximize
research output among the scientific community. She
introduced PASTIC tools such as PakCat, Union Online
Public Access Catalogue (Union OPAC), and other
databases and portals. She also highlighted the pivotal role
of Artificial Intelligence in advancing research endeav-
ors.

a. The World Cancer Day 2024 was celebrated at The
University of Modern Sciences (TUMS) Tando
Muhammad Khan (TMK) on February 20th, 2024, with
the theme of "CLOSE THE CARE GAP." Dr. Muhammad
Ali Memon, head of the Oncology Department at Indus
Medical College and Hospital, organized the event with
the primary objective of enhancing academic and profes-
sional knowledge and vision regarding cancers and their
prevention.

Hosted by the embassy of Pakistan in Czech Republic on
February 28, 2024.

posters were selected for awards. During the closing
session, Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI),
expressed gratitude to the organizers for putting together
such a meaningful event. She took the opportunity to
introduce the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and
PASTIC services to the audience.
