One day Seminar on “Consortium Launching and
Awareness of PASTIC project”
One day Seminar on “Consortium Launching and Aware-
ness of PASTIC Project on National digital archive of
research published in Pakistan journals" was organized on
August 25, 2023, at the City Campus of the University of
Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK). Prof. Dr. Syed
Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Chief Librarian AJK, and
Muhammad Ghazi Jakrani, Additional Director PASTIC
graced the occasion as a distinguished guest and keynote
speaker. Dr. Abdul Rauf Janjua, Director of ORIC-UAJK,
played a key role in coordinating and organizing the event.
This seminar drew a notable audience, including Chief
Editors, Editors, Assistant Editors, and relevant faculty
members from the PASTIC, AJK Medical College and
esteemed representatives from the partner institution,
University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The seminar served as a significant platform for the
exchange of ideas and insights regarding the national
digital archive of research publications in Pakistan. It
aimed to shed light on the transformative impact of this
digital repository on the accessibility and visibility of
research published within Pakistan.
Throughout the day, participants remained engaged in
lively discussions, explored emerging trends in academic
publishing, and gained valuable insights into the evolving
landscape of digital archives. The event also emphasized
the crucial role of academic institutions and
research centres in fostering collaboration
and knowledge sharing.

Two-Days Training Workshop on “AI
(Articial Intelligence) and Skills for Freelance”
Two-Days training workshop on “AI (Artificial Intelli-
gence) and Skills for Freelance” held on August 30-31,
2023 at National Textile University Faisalabad. Total 51
participants including Directors, HODs, Librarians, PhD
researchers, and students from various organization
participated.
Session was started with the recitation from The Holy
Quran followed by welcome address by Prof. Dr. Asif
Habib, Chairman C.S. NTU. Remarks and introduction to
PASTIC services was given by Muhammad Hasnain,
Additional Director, PASTIC Faisalabad. The key note
speaker/resource persons were Dr. Muhammad Tariq,
Director Library COMSAT University, Lahore and
Nadeem Sohail Director libraries City Schools System,
Lahore. In the closing session, Chief guest, Prof. Dr.
Tanveer Hussain, Rector NTU, distributed souvenirs and
certificates among the participants and resource persons.
He also thanked and appreciated PASTIC efforts for
capacity building of research community. Partici-
pants/Scientists also appreciated and paid thanks to
PASTIC efforts for holding a successful event.

PASTIC Karachi organized a Webinar on “Express the
Power of Data MATLAB and Python for Data Analytics”
on August 22, 2023 at PASTIC Sub Centre, Karachi. The
Webinar was participated by more than 99 Researchers

2023 at Arts Auditorium, University of Karachi.
The conference aimed to empower potential learners and
researchers to engage in the interdisciplinary fields of
neuroscience through education, outreach and awareness
initiatives. The conference provided a forum to students,
professionals and researchers in academia to explore the
recent researches in Neurosciences. Different depart-
ments of various universities across Pakistan participated
in this event.
The conference was organized by Department of
Biochemistry, University of Karachi in collaboration
with PASTIC, ORIC-UoK, CHWB-UoK, AEIRC, MU,
NSIG, IBRO, WWN, PASNO & PANS.
PASTIC collaborated in the said event by publishing
350 copies of Abstract Books. PSCK Officers Ms.
Afsheen Tariq, A.D (STI) & Mr. Shahid Jamil A.D
(Admin) participated and represented PASTIC in this
conference. During conference, A.D (STI) PSC, Karachi
conducted meetings with faculty members/organizers for
Promotion of PASTIC services.

including faculty members, PhD Students, Directors and
HODs from different universities and R&D Institutions
across different provinces of Pakistan.
The webinar was started with the recitation from The Holy
Quran. Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI),
PASTIC, Karachi introduced PASTIC services and its role
in capacity building, and also explained PASTIC newly
develop databases, portals etc. as well as Pakistan Science
Foundation's role towards support of scientific research.
Hafiz Syed Muhammad Rafi, Expert/Senior Lecturer,
Sohail University was the resource person of the webinar.
He gave detailed presentation about MATLAB software,
its programs, integration, implementations and scalable
web and enterprise applications etc.He also explained
Python data structures, analyzing and manipulating
complex data sets for Data Analysis.
In the end a productive Question/Answers session was
held. Participants valued and appreciated efforts of
resource person and PASTIC for conducting such a
successful event. A.D (STI) PSC, Karachi appreciated
the resource person and also paid thanks to participants
from different provinces of Pakistan.

PASTIC collaborated with University of
Agriculture, Peshawar for organizing of
International Conference on Sustainable
Agriculture & Food Security (ICSAFS-23)
Agriculture University Teachers Associations (AUTA),
The University of Agriculture, Peshawar organized an
International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture &
Food Security, August 27-31, 2023. The said conference
aimed to bring together researchers and scientists from
academia and industry in an effort to lay a ground work for
future collaborative research. The conference will provide
a forum for students, professionals and researchers in
academia and industry to explore the emerging research in
Agriculture and Food Security. Different departments of
various universities from all over the Pakistan are going to
participate in this event. PASTIC collaborated
in the said event by publishing 150 copies of
Abstract Book for this conference.
In the conference the chief guest was Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-
Rehman, (FRS. NI. HI. SI. TI) ICCBS, University of
Karachi. Inaugural Address was given by Prof. Dr. Khalid
Mehmood Iraqi, Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi,
Karachi. Prof. Dr. Tipu Sultan, Chancellor, Malir
University of Science and Technology, Pakistan, Prof. Dr.
Ather Enam, Professor of Neurosurgery, The Aga Khan
University Hospital & President PASBAN Prof. Dr. Farhat
Batool, Chairperson Biochemistry, University of Karachi,
Dr. Sadaf Ahmed, President PASBAN etc. addressed to the
participants. About 26 National & International keynote
speakers from different Universities presented their papers
& posters.

Workshop on Data Anaylsis
A one day training workshop on “Application of Statistics
and Data Analyses through SPSS” was organized by the
department of Zoology, in collaboration with ORIC as part
of series of Pre conference workshops at Women
University Rawalpindi on August 22, 2023. Dr. Maryum
Ibrar Additional Director (STI) was invited as the resource
person of this training workshop. More than 30
participants joined the workshop.
