An online Zoom meeting entitled “Digital Platform for
Technology Exchange” between PASTIC and Beijing
Association for Science and Technology (BAST), Beijing
Technology & Business University (BTBU), Beijing
International Science and Technology Exchange Center
(BISTEC) and ZGC Tianhe Promotion Center for S&T
Achievement Translation was held on September 22,
2021.
The participants of the meeting from PASTIC were Prof.
Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, DG PASTIC; Dr. Syed
Aftab Hussain Shah, Additional Director (STI) and Syed
Habib Akhter Jaffri, Principal Librarian.
The participants from China were Mr. LU Xiaopeng,
Deputy Director, Beijing International Science &
Technology Exchange Center (BISTEC); Mr. ZHU Nan,
Director, ZGC Tianhe Promotion Center for S&T

Director, Pakistan Study Center at BTBU, Mr. LI Ning,
Assistant Director, ZGC Tianhe Promotion Center for
S&T Achievement Translation and ZHOU Yinzhi,
Assistant Director, ZGC Tianhe Promotion Center for
S&T Achievement Translation.
BAST is building a platform of technology exchange
under the support of Chinese Association for Science &
Technology (CAST). This platform is used to match the
demand and supply in technology in Chinese language,
but English version and access will also be shared soon.
Dr. Di Yuna, introduced the participants as a moderator.
Later on, LU Xiaopeng, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram
Shaikh, DG PASTIC, addressed the participants. First
presentation was given from ZGC Tianhe Promotion
Center for S&T Achievement Translation about "Capital
Overseas Expert" Digital Platform for Online Exhibition.
Later on, DG PASTIC delivered the presentation on
“Pakistan's Perspective of Science, Technology &
Innovation: Current status and Challenges.”
The meeting also discussed about Pakistan technology
demand in patent, equipment, technology etc. This
platform will be used to match the demand and supply in
technology, patent, equipment etc.
It was agreed to make Technology Databases in line with
Web Portal/Proforma developed by ZGC Tianhe
Technology Transfer Center, China. The technology
demands of Pakistan's companies and Institutes will be
worked out by PASTIC-TIS Section (Focal person: Dr.
Syed Aftab Hussain Shah).
PASTIC Sponsored “1st International Conference on
Applied Physics & Engineering (ICAPE-2021)”
at Karachi
Department of Physics, NED University of Engineering &
Technology Karachi organized 1st International
Conference on Applied Physics & Engineering (ICAPE-
2021) on September 16-17, 2021 at NED University of
Engineering & Technology Karachi. PASTIC National
Centre Islamabad sponsored the conference and published
and printed the Conference Abstract Book.

The Conference aimed to stimulate engagement,
networking and collaboration among academia, research
institutes and industries to encourage knowledge and
technology exchange by sharing strengths for mutual
benefit.
In the inaugural session, Dr. Faizan Mansoor, Chairman
Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), was the
Chief Guest. Dr. Hafeez Hoorani, Director General of
National Center for Physics, was the Guest of Honor.
Webinar on "CPEC opportunities for Researchers" at
Karachi
Webinar on “Google Scholar for Teachers and
Scholars” at Superior University Lahore
PASTIC Sub-center Lahore and Department of English
Linguistics & Literature, Superior University Lahore,
jointly organized a Webinar on “Google Scholar for
Teachers and Scholars” on September 28, 2021 at Superior
University Lahore. Total 65 participants form Superior
University participated in this Webinar through zoom
meeting. Mr. Muhammad Saqib Zafar, Faculty member of
English Linguistics & Literature Department, Superior
University Lahore, delivered the welcome address.

The session was started with the recitation from the Holy
Quran, followed by welcome address by Prof. Muhammad
Wasif, Head English Linguistics & Literature Department,
Superior University Lahore.
Mr. Nadeem Sohail, Deputy Manager Library, was the
resource person of the webinar. He gave a detailed
presentation about the topic of the
webinar.

National Digital Archive of Pakistani Journals
will be established at PASTIC, Islamabad
Gulls Association Pakistan, Govt. Superior Science
College Peshawar, PASTIC and the Agriculture
University Peshawar jointly organized training
workshop on “Experimental / Statistical Design in
Analytical Sciences” on September 2-3, 2021 at the
Agriculture University Peshawar. Total 35
researchers participated in the workshop. Dr. Faisal
Khan from Quaid-e-Azam Commerce College
Peshawar, Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional Director
(STI) PASTIC and Dr. Siraj Khan from Government
Superior Science College Peshawar, were the
resource persons.

PASTIC Awareness Seminar for the promotion of
PASTIC Services
PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi arranged PASTIC
Awareness Seminar for the promotion of PASTIC
Services, in collaboration with Dawood University of
Engineering & Technology Karachi, on September 30,
2021. More than 100 researchers and faculty members and
other industrial R&D organizations attended the seminar.
Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC Sub-
Centre Karachi delivered detailed presentation about
PASTIC services, Pak Cat (Union Catalogue), and its new
S&T and R&D data bases, to the participants.
