PASTIC Sub-Centre, Faisalabad in collaboration with
ORIC-University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, organized
Expo titled, “PASTIC-UAF STEM & IT Innovation Expo:
Innovative Trends in Science, Technology, Engineering,
Mathematics (STEM) and IT" on November 25, 2021 at
University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, to showcase and
exhibit innovative projects on STEM & IT by young
researchers, engineers, technologists and manufacturers.

In the Expo, 50 organizations from Sindh, Southern and
Central Punjab, (Hyderabad, RahimYar Khan, Multan,
Islamabad and Faisalabad) participated and displayed
their innovative projects and ideas, and
discussed their modes and means with the
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, DG PASTIC, visited a stall
at the PASTIC-UAF STEM & IT Innovation Expo at ORIC-
University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
STEM & IT Expo was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Iqrar
Ahmad Khan, Vice-Chancellor UAF, Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General PASTIC,
Mr. Rana Fayyaz Ahmad, Vice President, Faisalabad
Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Mr. Ali Ahmad
Sian, CEO Education. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram
Shaikh, Director General PASTIC, distributed the
certificates for participation to the exhibitors. Shields, cash
awards and certificates were awarded to the project
winners by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, DG
PASTIC, Prof. Dr. Zahir Ahmad Zahir, Director ORIC and
Mr. Ahmad Hassan, FCCI.
PASTIC National Centre Islamabad, in collaboration with
Technology Times & Regional Rapport, organized a
training workshop on “Data Literacy & Journalism: Step
towards Interpreting & Drafting Data Driven Stories” on
November 17, 2021 at PASTIC National Centre,
Islamabad. Director General, PASTIC, Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Shaikh, gave brief introduction of
PASTIC services and described the aim to organize the
said training workshop.

A m e e t i n g o n “ D e v e l o p i n g L i n k a g e s w i t h
Chambers/Industrialists under PSDP “Competitive
Research Programme-CRP” was convened by DG
PASTIC on November 19, 2021 at PASTIC Committee
Room. Officers from PSF and PASTIC National Centre
Islamabad, together with the participants from PASTIC
Sub-Centers (Karachi, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad and
Quetta) via Zoom have attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the modalities to develop interest
and invite industry to apply for research funding under
CRP to develop the import substitute technologies. In this
regard it was resolved that the PASTIC National Center
and sub centers will hold individual meetings with their
respective chamber of commerce & industry to invite
industry attention.

PASTIC Sub-Center Karachi organized an online training
Workshop on “SPSS data Analysis for Beginners" on
November 23, 2021 at PASTIC Sub-Center Karachi. The
Workshop participants included 100 researchers, faculty
members and librarians from various universities and
R&D Institutions from Sindh, Punjab, KPK, AJK &
Baluchistan. The session was started with the recitation
from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by
Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC Sub-
Center Karachi. She delivered detailed presentation about
PASTIC services through PASTIC website with
documentary video of PASTIC / PSF. Dr. Maryam Ibrar
Shinwari, Additional Director (STI), from PASTIC
National Centre Islamabad, was the resource person of the
workshop. She gave a detailed presentation and hands-on
training about SPSS Software.

Ms. Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC

about PASTIC S&T services at the National Centre for
Excellence (NCE) in Physical Chemistry, University of
Peshawar, for M.Phil & PhD research scholars on
November 12, 2021.

Fifth Session of the Asia-Pacific Information
Superhighway Steering Committee, 25 November
2021
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, DG PASTIC,
has attended the “Fifth Session of the Asia-Pacific
Information Superhighway (AP-IS)” Steering
Committee under the auspicious of UNESCO on
November 25, 2021 virtually. Dr. Shaikh has attended
the meeting on behalf of Ministry of Science &
Technology. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss
the Action Plan for implementation of the Asia-Pacific
Information Superhighway (2022-2026).

Scientific, Technical and Economic Cooperation
under the “Belt and Road” Initiative virtually on
November 27, 2021. Beijing Technology and
Business University (BTBU), Pakistan Science
Foundation (PSF) and ECO Science Foundation
(ECOSF), jointly hosted the 6th Forum on China-
Pakistan Scientific, Technical and Economic
Cooperation under the “Belt and Road” Initiative
themed at "Inheriting China-Pakistan Friendship,
Creating the Future Together", supported by the
Department of International Cooperation of the
Chinese Association for Science and Technology
(CAST), Beijing Association for Science and
Technology (BAST), the China Embassy in Pakistan,
and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
in Beijing. This Forum was held both online and
offline.

Webinar on "Health tech: Entrepreneurship in
Health industry” on November 15, 2021 through
Zoom Video Conferencing. The Guest Speaker was
Ms. Zia S. Hassan, from Women of Wonders
Pakistan (WOWPK). This event was organized by
the Department of Microbiology, Jinnah University
for Women Karachi.

Industrial Project, for Competitive Research
Programme of Pakistan Science Foundation.
