The inaugural ceremony of STEM Educational System
Baluchistan was jointly organised by Officer Incharge,
PSC Quetta and PSF Science Caravan Baluchistan Unit
Quetta on November 11, 2022 at Government Girls
Secondary Higher School Quetta. Federal Minister,
Science & Technology, Mr. Agha Hassan Baloch,
Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation Islamabad, Prof.
Dr. Shahid Mehmood, Education Secretary Balochistan,
Mr. Abdul Rauf Baloch, Director, Geological Survey of
Pakistan Quetta, Mr. Sajjad and Principal, Madam Zubina,
Nawab Ghaus Baksh Raisani, Government Girls
Secondary Higher School Quetta, inaugurated the STEM
Education System in Baluchistan.

Online Workshop on “Mendeley- Reference
Management Software''
Online workshop on “Mendeley- Reference Management
Software'' was held on November23, 2022 at the Women
University of Multan. Total 154 participants including
researchers, PhD students, Directors and HODs from
various universities participated. Session was started with
the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by welcome
address by Dr. Saira. The presentation/training on
workshop was delivered by Dr. Maryam Ibrar Shinwari,
Additional Director (STI) PASTIC Islamabad.
Participants/Scientists appreciated PASTIC efforts to hold
a successful workshop.

Webinar on "Mendeley Reference Management
Software”
PASTIC-Karachi organized a webinar on “Mendeley
Reference Management Software”on November 24, 2022
via Zoom Meeting at PASTIC Sub Center Karachi. The
webinar was participated by 100 researchers including
faculty members, PhD students, Directors and HODs from
various universities. The session was started with the
recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome
address by Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI)
PASTIC Karachi. She briefed PASTIC Services and R&D
databases/portals etc. Dr. MaryumIbrar, Additional
Director (STI), PNC, Islamabad was the resource person
of the webinar. She gave a detailed presentation about
Mendeley Software. A productive question/answers

a) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General
and Senior PASTIC officials attended the world science
day celebrations jointly organized by COMSTECH,
UNESCO, COMSATS, PAS, PSF and ECO-SF at
COMSTECH, Islamabad on Nov 16, 2022. The theme of
world science day for peace and development this year was
“Basic Science for Sustainable Development”.

PASTIC Services Awareness stall
PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi arranged PASIC Service
Awareness stall on November 16, 2022 at Karachi Institute
of Economics and Technology (KIET) main campus,
Pakistan Air Force Airmen Academy Korangi Creek,
Karachi. Mr. Kashif Farooqui, DCA, PSCK gave briefing
about PASTIC Services and distributed pamphlets to the
scholars. More than 150 faculty members & researchers
visited PASTIC Services Stall. PASTIC publications were
exhibited & Scientists profile data was also collected.

b) Dr. Syed Aftab Hussain Shah, Additional Director
(STI), PASTIC attended Two Training Sessions
(Webinars) on ASTM COMPASS Database held on
November 8, 2022 and November 22, 2022 being
organized by HEC Pakistan, ASTM (American Society for
Testing and Materials) International and A&J.
c) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, D.G and Dr. Syed
Aftab Hussain Shah, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC
attended a meeting on the Implementation plan of National
Science Technology Policy (NSTP), held on Nov 11, 2022
at 11:00 am in the Committee Room, MoST.
d) Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI) & Mr.
Shahid Jamil Assistant Director (Admin) attended &
visited “7th All Pakistan DUHS-DICE Health Innovation
Exhibition” on November 4, 2022. The Event was
organized by The Dow University of Health Sciences
(DUHS) in collaboration with Distinguish Innovation
Collaboration & Entrepreneurship (DICE) foundation.
The Main objective of the Event is to bring Innovative
Concepts and New Inventions in Health Industry.
e) Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI) & Mr.
Kashif Farooqui Data Control Assistant, PSCK attended
Roadshow/awareness drive on the"Prime Minister's
National Innovation Award (PMNIA)" on November 7,
2022 at Institute of Business Administration (IBA), City
Campus Karachi. The event was organized by IBA CED in
collaboration with The Higher Education Commission.
Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director, IBA-CED, & Mr. Javed
Memon, Regional Director, HEC Sindh welcomed all the
guests including HEC Islamabad team, faculty members
and the event participants comprising the youth of
Pakistan. The purpose of the road show/ awareness is
providing an open opportunity for the youth across
Pakistan to propose innovative ideas for
the creation/launch of new startups.
