Two Days Training Workshop: “References and
citation with MENDELEY Desktop in MS Word''
Two days hand's on Training Workshop "References and
citation with Mendeley Desktop in MS Word” organized
by PASTIC Sub Centre Peshawar on June 07-08, 2023 at
Pakistan Forest Institute (PFI) Peshawar. Dr. Noreen
Asim, Assistant Professor, Institute of Biotechnology &
Genetic Engineering (IBGE), The Agriculture University
was the resource person. The training was started with the
recitation of The Holy Quran. Mr. Shoaib Ahmad, Assis-
tant Professor PFI-Peshawar welcomed the participants,
guests and resource person. Dr. Noreen Asim conducted
the training workshop in four sessions. She received
assistance from Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional
Director PASTIC/PSF during the training.
The Concluding ceremony was attended by Mr. Khalid
Ilyas (Director General, PFI), Mr. Safdar Ali Shah (ADG-
PFI), Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan ( Additional Director,
PASTIC/PSF), Mr. Ghayyas Ahmad Raja (Director
Education, PFI), Mr. Ahmad Zamir (Assistant Professor,
PFI) & Mr. Sohaib Ahmed (Assistant Professor, PFI). Mrs.
Ghazala Ali Khan briefed about PASTIC's active involve-
ment in supporting the nation's scientific community. Mr.
Khalid Ilyas and Mr. Safdar Ali Shah addressed the
participant & appreciated PASTIC's contribution to the
scientific community and wished to continue such
activities in the future. Resource person and participants
received shield & certificates.
One Day Training Workshop on Journal
Management System (OJS)

Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre
(PASTIC) organized one-day training on Journal
Management System (OJS) in KPK Region on June 17,
2023 at Shelton's Rezidor Hotel, Peshawar. Editors and
sub-editors of journals published by public & private
sectors Universities/S&T organizations from KP region
attended the workshop. Dr. Adnan Amin (IM Sciences-
Peshawar) was the key resource person.He kept involved
all the participants through-on training with the assistance
of Mr. Saifullah Azim (Project Director, National Digital
Archive Project), Dr. Muhammad Marwat from Peshawar
Medical College and PASTIC team including Mrs.
Ghazala Ali Khan (Additional Director), Nabi Bukhsh &
Mr. Fahad.

hope that with the support and cooperation of participatory
Journal Community PASTIC will be able to achieve the
project goal i.e. developing National Digital Archive of
research published in Pakistani Journals that can provide a
better research culture to our society, faculty, researchers
& students.

PATIC Sub-Centre Muzaffarabad, and University of
Azad Jammu & Kashmir Muzaffarabad jointly
organized a Two-days training workshop on “Library
automation & Management (ILS Software, KOHA)” on
June, 15-16, 2023. A total of 24 participants attended
this Workshop.

PASTIC signed contract agreement with Mercurial Minds
(Private) Limited (MM) for software development,
integration and cloud services on May 8, 2023 at Pakistan
Science Foundation (PSF) under its development project
titled “National Digital Archive of research published in
Pakistani journals”. The main objective was to engage
MM for providing National Journal Publication Platform
through extending software and infrastructure as service on
turnkey basis “services”. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig(SI),
Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation, graced the
ceremony as the chief guest.
Project is aimed to preserve and disseminate indigenous
research published in Pakistan through development of
National Digital archive at country level. Under this
project Scientific Journals' Community will be provided
Free Journal Hosting, Data import and Backup Services,
Financial Assistance for Digitization and Capacity
Building of Publishers/editors/Scientific Community.

Webinar on "EndNote & Research Data
Management”
PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi organized a Webinar on
“EndNote and Research Data Management” on 26th
June 2023 via Zoom Meeting at PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi. The Webinar was participated by
100 Researchers including faculty mem-
bers, PhD Students, Directors and HODs

from different universities and R&D Institutions from
Sindh, Punjab, KPK and Balochistan. The Session was
started with the recitation of The Holy Quran, followed
by a welcome address by Ms. Afsheen Tariq (Assistant
Director, PASTIC). Dr. Maryum Ibrar (Additional
Director, PASTIC), was the resource person. She gave a
detailed presentation about EndNote Software & its
functions, advantages, different tools, Reference styles
for Creating bibliographies. She also briefed about how
to organize and manage references through EndNote
Software. A Productive Question/Answers session was
also conducted. In the last session, Ms. Afsheen Tariq
thanks to the resource person and participants.
Researchers also appreciated the Resource person and
PASTIC efforts for conducting successful Webinar.

d. A Program against drugs "Say No to Drugs" was
conducted by Anti-Narcotics Force Regional Directorate
Balochistan Coastal on June 26, 2023 at University of
Balochistan, Quetta. Mr. Abdul Khalique Siyal, Assistant
Director, PASTIC Quetta, along with other speakers
participated and highlighted the dangers and spread of
narcotics among youth.
