The workshop was supported by Ministry of Science &

Pakistan, China, China Centre for International Science &
Technology Exchange and Beijing Science & Technology
Centre for International Cooperation.
The next workshop of the series titled "Innovative
Technology in the Application of Locust Control" is
scheduled to be on August 20, 2020.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a useful role in many
aspects of global fight against the corona virus (COVID-
19). Whereas in the past few months, China has played a
leading role in use of AI for prediction, screening, contact
alerts faster diagnosis, automated deliveries and laboratory
drug discovery for COVID-19 patients. There is also need
to strengthen the ability of Pakistani professionals in the
field of AI and emerging technologies to combat COVID-
19.
Therefore, PASTIC/PSF has joined hands with Beijing
Technology and Business University (BTBU), China to
collaborate a series of online China Pakistan Science
Workshops. The main objective of the collaboration is to
promote China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation in S&T:
People to people connection in science communication &
technology trainings through organizing a series of
capacity building workshops for S&T professionals in
Pakistan.
The first workshop of this series titled “Use of Artificial
Intelligence against COVID-19” was successfully held on
23 July, 2020 on Zoom Meeting platform. The main
objective of the workshop was to strengthen the ability of
Pakistani professionals in the field of AI and emerging
technologies to combat COVID 19 pandemic.
More than 100 Pakistani Science & Technology
professionals participated in this online workshop. The
Opening Ceremony was presided over by Ms. Di Yuna,
Dean of the Department of International Business
Management of the School of International Economics and
Management, BTBU, China. While Director General
PASTIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, delivered
opening remarks and highlighted the need for this
Pakistan-China bilateral cooperation to boost the capacity
of Pakistani scientific and technological workforce.

PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad organized an online
Workshop titled " Management by using Mendeley -
Reference Management Software'' on July 7, 2020 in
collaboration with Govt. College Women University
Faisalabad (GCWUF) . About 28 participants
(Directors and other R&D workers) participated in
the seminar. The session started with the recitation
from the Holy Quran, followed by welcome address
by Mr. Muhammad Hassnain, Deputy Director
PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad. The Resource
Person of the Seminar, Dr. Maryam Ibrar Shinwari,
Senior Scientific Information Officer, PASTIC
National Centre delivered a detailed presentation on
the topic. Afterwards, Dr. Yasmeen Gull, Director
ORIC (GCWUF) in her closing remarks appreciated
the efforts of PASTIC for organizing a successful
seminar and also highlighted the importance of the
topic for R&D workers/scientists.
Online Workshop titled “Role of IPR
and Elevation of Organizations''
PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad organized an online
Workshop on " Role of IPR and Elevation of
Organizations'' on July 14, 2020 in collaboration
with ORIC University of Agriculture Faisalabad
(UAF). About 17 participants (Directors and other
senior faculty members and students) participated in
the seminar. The session was started with the
recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by
welcome address by Mr. Muhammad Hassnain,
Deputy Director PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad.
Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Director ORIC, University of
Peshawar, was the Resource Person. At the end,
Director ORIC UAF acknowledged the PASTIC
efforts in S&T human resource development through
seminars across the country. He also highlighted the
importance of the topic for R&D workers/scientists.

participants (Directors and other R&D workers)
participated in the seminar. The session was started
with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by
welcome address of Mr. Muhammad Hassnain,
Deputy Director PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad.
The detailed presentation on the topic was delivered
by Resource Person, Dr. Maryam Ibrar Shinwari,
