One-day Training Workshop on Citation and
Literature Management by using Mendeley Software

Mr. Nadeem Sohail, Deputy Manager LRC, conduct the
technical session. He theoretically and practically
presented what, why and how citation management is. The
session was also followed by hands on Practice Session.

PATIC Sub Centre Lahore in collaboration with
University of Management and Technology, (UMT)
Lahore organized one-day training workshop on “Citation
and literature Management by using Mendeley Software''
“on March 28,2022 at University of Management and
Technology, (UMT) Lahore. Total 53 participants
including faculty and research scholars form University of
Management and Technology have attended this
workshop.

After recitation of Holy Quran, Mr. Muhammad Raﬁq
Awan, Director, Knowledge Research Support Services
(KRSS) (UMT) Lahore, presented the welcome note in
which he introduced University of Management and
Technology, (UMT) Lahore and highlighted the role of
Knowledge Research Support Services (KRSS) (UMT) in
quality education.
Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director (STI), PASTIC
introduced PASTIC services, also explained the role of
Pakistan Science Foundation and PASTIC in capacity
buildings and also highlighted the Mendeley software
importance as Research and Bibliographic Management
Citation tool.

Consortium launching ceremony of Journal Publishers for
Punjab region along with Project Awareness Activity was
held at Serena Hotel, Faisalabad on March 19, 2022. Total
60 Journal Publishers/Editors from diﬀerent cities i.e.
Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Faisalabad and
Sargodha participated in Consortium Launching and
Project Awareness activity. Chairman, Pakistan Science
Foundation, Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, (S.I) was
the Chief Guest of the program while, Rector, The
University of Lahore, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Vice
Chancellor, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering &
Information Technology (KFUEIT), Prof. Dr. Muhammad
Suleman Tahir and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh,
Director General PASTIC were the Guests of Honor. Mr.
Ahmad Hassan, Chairman R&D Committee, Faisalabad
Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (FCCI) also attended
the event and appreciated the PASTIC's initiative for
development of national archive for preservation of
research content.

Information Science organised a Two-Day Seminar and
Training Workshop on “PASTIC Developed Tools:
Roadmap for Open Science and Training Workshop on
PASTIC Koha Cloud” on March24-25, 2022 at Sir Sadiq
Muhammad Khan Library, Baghdad ulJadeed Campus,
The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB).

and Prof. Dr. M. Akram Shaikh, Director General,
PASTIC were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honorof
opening ceremony. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty

Habib Akhter Jafri, Principal Librarian, PASTIC was the
resource person of the event. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem,
Associate Professor, DLIS, IUB, and Muhammad Hasnain
Deputy Director, PASTIC, Faisalabad, Mr. Aamir Rasul,
Assistant Professor, DLIS, IUB and Mr. Irfan Tahir,
Assistant Librarian, IUB were also present at the event.

PASTIC in collaboration with ORIC, the university of
Faisalabad organised one day training workshop “IP
Importance and Patent writing/ﬁlling'' on March 30, 2022
at the University of Faisalabad.Total70 participants from
various disciplines participated in the workshop. Mr.
Zahoor Ahmad, Director QEC University of Peshawar
was the resource person.

PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi Organized Webinar on
"Research Synopsis Writing (Research & Design)” on
March 29, 2022 at PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi.Total100
researchers of diﬀerent universities and R &D Institutions
from Sindh, Punjab, KPK & Baluchistanparticipated in the
webinar. The Session was started with the recitation from
the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Ms.
Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI). PASTIC Sub
Centre Karachi, briefed PASTIC services & its new S & T
and R & D Data Bases through PASTIC website with a
documentary video of PASTIC / PSF. Dr. Syeda Sadaf
Akbar from Hashmani Group of Hospitals was the
resource person of the Webinar. She gave a detailed
presentation about Synopsis Writing.

Training Workshop on “Writing a Research
Report/proposal and Citation Management''

PASTIC in collaboration with Department of Education
and ORIC Govt College University Faisalabad organized
two days Training Workshop on “Writing a Research
Report/proposal and Citation Management'' on March 31,
2022 to April 1, 2022 at ORIC Govt College University
Faisalabad. Mr. Nadeem Sohail University of
Management and Technology, Sialkot Campus was the
resource person. Total 60 participants participated in the
workshop.

Ms. Ghazala Ali Khan Additional Director, PASTIC sub
centre, Peshawar participated as keynote speaker during
Training Worksop: “Quality Assurance in Higher
Education''on March 25, 2022organized by Quality
Assurance Cell Higher Education Department-KP (HED)
& Directorate of Quality Enhancement (DQE), University
of Peshawar. During her speech she briefed about PASTIC
& PSF services. The session was graced by secretary
HED-KP, Mr. Dawood Khan, Vice Chancellor UOP, Prof.
Dr. Muhammad Idrees, Director HED Mr. Imran Marwart,
Director DQE Mr. Zahoor Ahmad along with 30
participants representing diﬀerent higher education
institutes of KP.

Building Workshop for Science Teachers on Climate
Change Education” on March 28, 2022 jointly organised
by ECO-Science Foundation, Sukkur IBA University and
UNESCO Pakistan at Islamabad.

iv) Ms. Afsheen AD(STI), PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi
attended “International Women's Day 2022: Women
Entrepreneurs” on March 3, 2022.Event was organized
byWomen Chambers of Commerce and Industries(Malir)
andFPCCI atFederation of Pakistan Chambers of
Commerce & Industry Karachi. Dignitaries along with a
large number of women entrepreneurs participated in the
event. During the event topics including women
Entrepreneurship, women inclusion in economy,
government policies and other support funds and grants
needs were discussed.

v) PSCK oﬃcialsvisited “ResearchProjects Exhibition”
on March 3, 2022, organized by Centre for Guidance
Career Planning & Placement of Sir Syed University of
Engineering & Technology (SSUET). Altogether 100
captivating projects covering 10 disciplines were

presented at the exhibition. Chancellor Jawaid Anwar,
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin along with the
Deans, Chairperson, HODs, visited the exhibition and
appreciated the eﬀorts done by the students.

vi) Ms. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) & Mr.
Shahid Jamil Superintendent (Admin) PASTIC Sub
Centre Karachi participated in the “International
Conference on Climate Change: Impact & Responses” on
March08-09, 2022 at HEJ, Institute University of Karachi.
The event was organized by SEGMITE, Department of
Geology University of Karachi, PCRWR & Pakistan
Science Foundation in collaboration with Pakistan
Meteorological Department (PMD). The aim of the
Conference is to provide an opportunity to Researchers,
Scientists and technologists from academia and industry
etc. In the inaugural session Prof Dr. Viqar Hussain
Convener SEGMITE delivered the welcome address. Mr.
Saifullah Azim, Director P & D Pakistan Science
Foundation gave brief introduction of Pakistan Science
Foundation and PASTIC. National & International
Keynote speakers presented their talksand Research
Scholars from diﬀerent organization / Universities
presented their Posters.

The Dawood Foundation (TDF) Magniﬁ Science Centre
Karachi (MSC) onMarch 9, 2022. MagniﬁScienceCenttre
is Pakistan's ﬁrst contemporary and interactive science
centre designed to provide hands on learning experience to
everyone.

Christoph S. Sprung, Director & Ms. Nasreen Hassan

2022 at The Dawood Foundation (TDF) MagniﬁScience
