Seminar on “Role of Information Technology in
Higher Education”
PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi, with the collaboration of
ORIC, Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and
Technology (FUUAST) Karachi, organized a one day
Seminar on “Role of Information Technology in Higher
Education” on July 18, 2023 at Federal Urdu University of
Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Karachi. The
Seminar was participated by more than 50 researchers
including HOD's, faculty members & students etc.
The seminar was started with the recitation of The Holy
Quran, followed by a welcome note by Dr. Sadia Khalil,
Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Federal
Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology
(FUUAST). She Introduced PASTIC Karachi Team leader
and the resource person profile & their work to the
participants.
In the inaugural session Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant
Director (STI), PASTIC Karachi welcomed all the
participants, faculty members, resource person & paid
thanks to Dr. Muhammad Ali Versani, Director ORIC, Dr.
Sadia Khalil for arranging the seminar. Ms. Afsheen Tariq
A.D (STI) briefed Pakistan Science Foundation services &
their research projects, role of PASTIC in capacity
building, it's newly developed databases, portals etc. to the
researchers.
Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre
(PASTIC) organized 3 days workshop on "Project
Management: Monitoring & Evaluation” at PASTIC
National Centre, Islamabad from 19-21 July, 2023.
Forty participants, including management, from Pakistan
Science Foundation (PSF), Pakistan Museum of Natural
H i s t o r y ( P M N H ) a n d P a k i s t a n S c i e n t i fi c a n d
Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) attended the
training workshop. The workshop was aimed to equip the
staff of PSDP Project “Competitive Research Program
(CRP)” with the necessary knowledge and skills to
implement project management principles in their
respective institutions.

detail presentation on ICT & role of IT in

scientific presentations and lectures. He addressed
different tools & difficulties of research scholars towards
research & he also briefed about four important aspects in
order to realize such role of Information Technology i.e
Fund, Top management's commitment, Concern of
change, and Involvement of all parties, as well as cultural
adjustment. After his presentation an interactive
question/answers session was followed till the end.
In the closing session, Dr. Muhammad Ali Versani,
Director ORIC, FUUAST paid vote of thanks, in his
remarks he appreciated the efforts of PASTIC, their role
towards research knowledge and the resource person's
presentation. In the end shields and certificates were
distributed among the resource persons & organizers.

Participants actively engaged in a wide range of topics
such as Intro & Cycle of Project Management, Work Break
Down Structure, Risk & Impact Analysis, Basics of
Monitoring a Project: Why It's Important, Evaluating the
project: Counting the KPIs, Innovation Management,
Technology Development in Project Management &
Commercialization.
Dr. Nadeem Ahmed, Faculty Member, PIDE delivered an
enlightening session on “Project Management, Risk &
Impact Analysis, Work Breakdown Structure and Project
Finance”, while Mr. Shujaat Farooq and Dr. Hasson
Rasool, both Professors at PIDE engaged the participants
in group discussion and activities focusing on “Basics of
Monitoring a Project – Why It's Important and Evaluating
the Project: Counting the KPIs.”
Lastly, Mr. Khurram Ellahi, Lecturer at PIDE, led an
informative session on Innovation Management &
Technology Development.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Mehmood Baig, Chairman, Pakistan
Science Foundation, graced the occasion and delivered a
warm closing note. Honorable chief guest engaged with
the participants in an interactive and thought-provoking
session about the training workshop, where he shared
concerns and issues while appreciating the training
session, and discussion held during sessions.
At the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Shahid Mehmood
Baig(S.I) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh,
Director General PASTIC shared their
valuable insights and ideas. Both honorable
PASTIC collaborated with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto
University, Sheringal (Dir-Kumrat) for organizing an
“International Conference on Food & Applied Sciences
ICFAS-23”. The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, University,
Sheringal and Evolution, Pakistan will organize an
International Conference on Food & Applied Sciences
(ICFAS-2023) fromAugust 3-4, 2023. The said confer-
ence is aimed to bring Life Sciences research areas
synchronically on an individual platform. This confer-
ence drew collectively research fellowships from diverse
fields in untidiness, to share their research findings and
latest ideas.Vice Chancellors of different universities,

PASTIC Published Abstract Book of the
International Conference on Food & Applied
Sciences (ICFAS-23)
The Abstract Book contains 438 research abstracts
contributed by scholars and researchers across Pakistan a
well as abroad. PASTIC collaborated in the said confer-
ence by printing 50 copies of this Abstract Book. The
conference will be participated by 54 local universities/
organizations and 8 foreign universities from Poland,
Libya, Malaysia, China, Iran, Italy and Doha.

PASTIC Services Awareness Activities
Additional Director (STI) PASTIC Sub-Centre Peshawar,
Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan delivered a lecture on “PASTIC
services and resource sharing”as a resource person during
the three days “National Workshop on Utilization of
Modern Techniques for Research and Librarianship” held
on July 21-23, 2023 at Khwazakhela Upper Swat. The
workshop was jointly organized by Khushal Khan Khattak
University Karak, Sarhad University of Science &
Technology, Peshawar and Upper Swat College of
Nursing & Health Sciences, Swat.

University, Karachi & IT Consultant Sindh
Tourism Development Corporation visited
PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi on July 17, 2023. He is
working on Entrepreneurship, IoT, Artificial Intelligence,
Block chain, Robotic, STEM Digital Marketing, Mobile
App & WEB Development etc. Ms. Afsheen Tariq
Assistant Director (STI) gave him briefing about PASTIC
Services & it's newly develop database and library
services toward PASTIC KOHA Cloud and also discussed
future collaboration and organize different training
programs for scholars.
b. Following four officers from PASTIC National Centre,

2023 with Prof. Mehreen, Sociology department,
University of Balochistan Quetta, for organizing
“Research Methodology” workshop in the month of
August 2023, as well as University of Balochistan
collaboration with PASTIC Quetta. Mr. Abdul Khalique
Sial, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre Quetta,
held a meeting with Prof. Mehreen, Sociology
Department, University of Quetta, Balochistan.
d. Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional Director PASTIC
Sub-Centre, Peshawar attended a “Meeting of the
Committee to Devise the Criteria for appointment of the
Professor Emeritus” at National Centre of Excellence in
Physical Chemistry, University of Peshawar on July 31,
2023.
