Locusts and grasshoppers are major economic pests in
China and are controlled through the preventive
management system using environmental friendly
technologies. Moreover their invasion is monitored
using remote sensing technology to minimize the
potential crop damage. Therefore, PASTIC/PSF has
joined hands with Beijing Technology and Business
University (BTBU), China to collaborate a series of
online China Pakistan Science Workshops. The first
workshop of this series titled “Use of Artificial
Intelligence against COVID-19” was successfully held
on 23 July, 2020 on Zoom Meeting platform.
Whereas the second workshop of the series titled “Use of
New Technology in Locust Control” has successfully
been held on August 20, 2020 at 10:00-14:00 hrs
(Pakistan Time) over zoom platform. The main
objective of this workshop was to create awareness
among Pakistani professionals in the field of insect
disease management on emerging technologies to
combat this locust plague.
More than 100 Pakistani Science & Technology
professionals across the country participated in this

efficient utilization of S&T data for S&T policy making
of a country. Moreover, Technical reports are important
S&T resource, and can be utilized to avoid duplication of
research, thereby improving efficiency and effectiveness
of S&T research investment. In this context
PASTIC/PSF in collaboration with Beijing Technology
and Business University (BTBU), China, organized a
workshop titled “S&T Data Management and S&T
Reports Publishing” on August 27, 2020 at 10:00-14:00
hrs (Pakistan Time) over zoom
platform. The main objective of this
workshop was to build capacity of
PASTIC and other similar officials working in the area
of information and data management.
More than 40 scientific and technical personnel from
PASTIC (Pakistan Scientific and Technological
Information Centre), PMNH (Pakistan Museum of
Natural History), PSF (Pakistan Science Foundation)
and PCST (Pakistan Council for Science and
Technology) dealing with the management of S&T data
and reporting, participated in this online training
workshop.
The workshop was supported by Pakistan Ministry of
Science & Technology (MoST), Embassy of the
