Training Workshop on SPSS at PASTIC
National Centre Islamadad

PASTIC organized three days training workshop on
March 27-29, 2019 for scholars/ researchers/students
on the topic of “Research Tools and Techniques
(SPSS)” to enhance researchers' capabilities.
Eighteen research scholars from Quaid e Azam
University, University of Lahore and FAST
University participated in the training program. At
the end of the training program, Director General
PASTIC, Prof. Dr. Muhmmad Akram Shaikh
distributed the training certiﬁcates among the
participants.

Information Resources, by coordinating various
activities, conducting awareness programs, for
PASTIC services, and to jointly arrange conferences,
seminars, training and other such activities to
enhance the knowledge and skill set of researchers,
professionals, academicians and the general public.

PASTIC organized a one-day training workshop on

“EndNote” on March 20, 2019 at the Training Lab of

PASTIC National Centre, Islamabad. The objective

of the workshop was to build the capacity of young

researchers and scholars to enhance their skills in

literature search, citation, sharing and discovering of

new research. Mr. Muhammad Usman, Database

Administrator, was the Resource Person of the

workshop. Total 21 participants from Quaid-e-Azam

University and other organizations participated in

this hands on training workshop.

This “EndNote” workshop was the part of a series of

trainings, which are regularly organized by PASTIC

to train the young researchers and scholars on modern

ICT tools and techniques useful in research.

Memorandum of Understanding Between
PASTIC / PSF & RMU

PASTIC / PSF and Rawalpindi Medical University
(RMU) have signed an MOU to develop cooperation,
and to ensure their commitment in order to
collaborate in organizing trainings and sharing of
information resources.
The scope of MOU is to promote and develop the
culture of R&D in Pakistan, by sharing of Scientiﬁc

National Training Workshop on KOHA

collaboration of E-library Rawalpindi

PASTIC, E-library and Pakistan Librarian Welfare

Organization jointly conducted a three-day national
training workshop on KOHA ILS software on March
13-15, 2019, at E-Library Rawalpindi. DG PASTIC

introduced about library information skills and usage
of library automation software “KOHA” that
PASTIC provides on cloud free of cost.

Grand Meeting / Seminar for LIS
Professionals Rawalpindi /Islamabad

In E-Library Rawalpindi, PASTIC and Pakistan

librarian welfare Association jointly conducted a

seminar on March 16, 2019 for purpose of PASTIC

consortium for sharing and easy access of

information among libraries. Chief librarians and

heads of libraries participated in this seminar/Grand

meeting from all over Pakistan. The resource persons

of seminar were Mr. Anwar Ejaz, Chief Librarian,

Quaid-e-azam University

Librarian, International Islamic University

Workshop on Citation Management by
using Mendeley Software

PASTIC Sub Center Lahore, Institute of Molecular
Biology & Biotechnology (IMBB), the University of
Lahore and FAST-National University of Computer
& Emerging Sciences jointly organized a one-day
workshop on 'Citation Management by using
Mendeley Software” on March 12, 2019. A total of 65
participants attended this workshop.

After recitation of Holy Quran, Prof. Dr.

Muhammad Ashraf, Pro-Rector and Head of
Department IMBB/CRiMM, presented the welcome
note, in which he introduced IMBB, and highlighted
its role in quality education, and role of Pakistan
Science Foundation and PASTIC in capacity building
of students and researchers.

services. He threw light on Mendeley software
importance as a Research and Bibliographic
Management Citation tool.

The workshop was organized by PASTIC Sub Centre
P e s h a w a r i n c o l l a b o r a t i o n w i t h S o i l &
E n v i r o n m e n t a l S c i e n c e s D e p a r t m e n t , T h e
Agriculture University Peshawar on March 25, 2019.
A total of 35 participants, including faculty members
& M. Phil / PhD Scholars, attended the workshop.
Mr. Tahir Jan (Librarian, University of Peshawar)
was Resource Person, who initially delivered notable
introductory lectures, in which he discussed in detail
about key points of End Note and the importance of
this software in report / thesis writing. After that the
he practically involved the participants to learn
Endnote software via hands on training. They were
allowed to freely ask / share their queries regarding

PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi arranged a one-day

training Workshop on "Literature Search &
Endonote" at Harmdard University, Karachi on
March 26, 2019. Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. Syed
Shabib-ul-Hasan, Vice Chancellor, Hamdard
University Karachi. A total of 39 Faculty Members
& Researchers from Faculty of Pharmacy, Hamdard
University, Karachi attended the training workshop.
Mr. Sajid Atif Aleem, Resource Person, gave
training on Endnote. Mr. Abdul Fatah Shaikh,
Deputy Director PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi,
briefed about PASTIC Services through PASTIC
website, documentary of PASTIC / PSF was played
and certiﬁcates were distributed among the
participants.

PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi arranged a two-day
training Workshop on "Research Data Analysis
through SPSS" at PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi on
March 20– 21, 2019. A total of 12 participants from
diﬀerent universities and departments like University
of Karachi, Federal Urdu University & Ziauddin
University etc attended the training workshop. Ms.
Sara Wahab & Mr. Aamir Anis were Resource
Persons and gave training on SPSS. Mr. Abdul Fatah
Shaikh, Deputy Director PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi, briefed about PASTIC services through
PASTIC website, and documentary of PASTIC / PSF
was played.

Seminar on “Signicance of Intellectual
Property Rights & Patents in Engineering
Sector” at UET Mardan

A one-day Technology & Innovation Support Centre

(TISC) Seminar titled “Signiﬁcance of Intellectual
Property Rights & Patents in Engineering Sector,”
was jointly organized on March 21, 2019 by
PASTIC, ORIC- UET Mardan and IPO-Pakistan. A
total of 67 researchers along with their faculty
members attended the session. After recitation of
The Holy Quran, Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan, Dy.
Director (STI), PASTIC Sub-Centre, Peshawar
briefed the audience about the PASTIC Services.
After this, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Manager ORIC
University of Peshawar delivered a comprehensive
talk on Signiﬁcance of Intellectual Property Rights
& Patents particularly in the domains of patents &
t r a d e m a r k s i n E n g i n e e r i n g S e c t o r .
The seminar was also attended by Prof. Dr. Sadaqat
Jan, (Dean), Dr. Ibrar Ali Shah, (Chairman Computer

Question-Answer session was also held at the end of
presentations, and certiﬁcates were distributed
among the participants. Finally, the shields were
awarded to the management and organizers. PASTIC
Services brochures were also distributed among the
participants whom they ﬁlled as per need of their
research work.

The consultative workshops were held on March 14
and 27, 2019 at Green Olives Peshawar, under
Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST),
Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The
workshops were attended by Mrs. Ghazala Ali Khan,
Dy. Director (STI), PASTIC Sub-Centre, Peshawar
along with representatives of ORIC's, NGO's and
S&T Departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The main object of the workshops was to build
consensus on STI Policy and Road map for Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa.
