Seminar on “Resource Sharing,
Networking and Consortium: Challenges,
Prospects and way forward” at Lahore
A one day seminar entitled “Resource Sharing,
Networking and Consortium: Challenges, Prospects
and way forward”, was organized by PASTIC
National Center at Lahore on June 28, 2018, in
c o l l a b o r a t i o n w i t h C O M S AT S U n i v e r s i t y
Islamabad, Lahore Campus. Renowned Library and
Information Science Professionals across the country
gave talk on latest topics of the subject. 49
participants attended this seminar.

Appreciation ceremony in honour
of ofcials who worked for Short Term
Training Programme Organized for
Library and Information Professionals
Under the development project of PASTIC
“Modernization of PASTIC National Science
Reference Library for Effective Resource Sharing
amongst S&T Libraries in Pakistan” a three-week
training on latest tools and techniques of information
handling and management was organized by
PASTIC, for library and information professionals in

May 2018, which was attended by 25 library
professionals from all over the country.
All the PASTIC officials worked dedicatedly for
making this training activity successful. Therefore, in
view of the encouragement and motivation of the
officials who worked dedicatedly for making this
programme successful, an appreciation ceremony
was organized at PASTIC for acknowledging and
appreciating the services of the officials who had
contributed in the programme.

The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Shaikh, Director General,
PASTIC. All the officers and staff attended the
ceremony. Project Coordinator, Syed Habib Akhtar
Jafri highlighted the services of officials during this
programme and appreciated their contribution.

The organization of this appreciation ceremony, and
awarding certificates to the officials proved very
useful in encouraging and motivating the officials, for
working with more dedication in future.
PASTIC ofcers acquire training of
Presiding Ofcers and Senior Assistant
Presiding Ofcers for upcoming General
Election, 2018.
In order to assist the Election Commission of
Pakistan in discharge of its function, PASTIC officers
attended programme of the two days training of
Presiding Officers and Senior Assistant Presiding
Officers, which was organized jointly by Election
Commission of Pakistan and United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP). The training was
held at Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-8/4,
Islamabad. The PASTIC officers acquired this
training for facilitating the Election Commission of
Pakistan in the upcoming General Election,
scheduled to be held on 25th July 2018, by
performing their duties as Presiding Officers and
Senior Assistant Presiding Officers.
Attachment Training Programme for
Library and Information Professionals
Out of 25 library and information professionals, who
have attended short term training, organized by
PASTIC in May 2018. 5 library professionals were
selected for advanced level attachment training on
tools and techniques of information handling and
management, for improving their soft and technical
skills. The arrangement for this advance level
attachment training, of these five selected
professionals, was made at five different institutions
namely, COMSATS Institute of Information
Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, University of Sindh,
Jamshoro, University of Information Technology

(BUITEMS), Quetta, University of Balochistan,
Quetta and Habib University, Karachi, by placing one
trainee at each institution. These 5 selected
professionals attended the attachment training at
these five institutions.

Eid Milan Party held at PASTIC
National Centre Islamabad
Eid Milan Party was held at PASTIC National Centre
Islamabad after Eid-ul-Fitr, in the room of DG
PASTIC. All officers BPS-18 and above were invited
by DG PASTIC. Tea and snacks were served.
