Seminar on “Information Literacy Skills and Free
online Resources”
PATIC Sub Centre Muzaffarabad, with the collaboration
of Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST)
organized a one-day Seminar on “Information Literacy
Skills and Free online Resources” on January, 26, 2023 at
Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST). A
total of 38 participants attended this seminar.
Multan, Total 80 participants from various faculties
including Directors, HODs, PhD's researchers, and
students participated. Session was started with the
recitation from The Holy Quran followed by welcome
address by Prof. Dr. Asia Bibi, Chairperson Department of
Zoology. Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director, PASTIC
Faisalabad delivered remarks and introduction to
PASTIC/PSF services. The resource person was Mr.
Nadeem Sohail Chief Librarian.

Karachi organized one day workshop on “Research Skills :

University of Karachi .

The workshop was participated by more than 75
researchers including HOD's, faculty members and
postgraduates' students etc.
The Session was started with the recitation of The Holy
Quran, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Marium
Shaikh Assistant Professor, Food Science & Technology,
UK. She Introduced PASTIC and the Resource Person Dr.
Syeda Sadaf Akbar, Dean of Allied Health Sciences, Malir
University of Science & Technology Karachi.
Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC
Karachi introduced PASTIC services and Pakistan Science
Foundation role towards research.
Resource person Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akbar gave a detailed
presentation about research skills.
b. Ms. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) PSCK &
Mr. Shahid Jamil Assistant Director (Admin) attended one
day Workshop on “Gemology Entrepreneurship” on
January 5, 2023 at ICCBS Technology Park and Incubation
Center University of Karachi.
Ms Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC
Karachi, introduced PASTIC services & its S&T
information portals & database & also describe Pakistan
Science Foundation role towards the research.
The speakers shed light on the workshop topic and
discussed about the Gemstones and its importance.
c. PSCK officers Ms. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director
(STI) & Mr. Shahid Jamil Assistant Director (Admin),
Conducted a meeting with Engr. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hussain
Professor & Dean (EAS) & Director ORIC on 09th
January 2023 at DHA Suffa University Both sides have
agreed to facilitate and work together for future
cooperation.
Dr. Syeda Sadaf Akbar resource person gave presentation
a. A delegation of senior PASTIC officials led by the
Director General, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh
visited central library Quaid-e-Azam University on Jan 24,
2023 and had a meeting with Chief Librarian Mr. Anwar
Ijaz. Both sides have discussed the avenues of mutual
cooperation and agreed to work together for the
development of National digital repository of Scientific &
Technological Information. The digital repository
developed by Quaid-e-Azam University Library was
shown to PASTIC delegation. Both sides have agreed to
share their experiences and work together.
