Workshop on SPSS at PASTIC
N a t i o n a l C e n t r e , I s l a m a b a d
to enhance researcher's capabilities
PASTIC organized a three-day training workshop on
J a n u a r y 2 9 - 3 1 , 2 0 1 9 f o r t h e s c h o l a r s /
researchers/students on “Research Tools and
Techniques (SPSS)” at PASTIC National Centre
Islamabad, to enhance quality of research. 14
research scholars from Quaid e Azam University and
other institutions participated in the training
program. At the end of the training program, Director
General PASTIC, Prof. Dr. Muhmmad Akram Shaikh
distributed training certificates among the
participants.
Seminar on “Information Literacy Skills

PASTIC Sub Centre Muzaffarabad organized a one
day seminar on “Information Literacy Skills” at
University of Women Bagh Azad Kashimir, on

Women Entrepreneurs (SMES) from
SAARC Countries
Dr. Saima Huma Tanveer, Project Director
(NCBWESC), called upon Ms. Faaiza Amjad,
President, Women Chamber Of Commerce &
Industry, WCCI Lahore on January 14, 2019. The
meeting was held in the context of data collection and
upcoming workshop for Women SMEs in Lahore. Dr.
Saima Huma Tanveer, gave a brief introduction of the
project, elaborating different activities being held
under the project, and also briefed about the WE
Portal (under development), focusing the online
present needs of Women SMEs of the SAARC region.
Ms. Faaiza Amjad, President Women Chamber Of
Commerce & Industry, WCCI. Lahore, ensured that
WCCI Lahore will proactively collaborate in
NCBWESC for data collection and conduct ICT
Workshop for the Women SMEs of Lahore.
Bagh, attended the seminar. Mr. Syed Habib Akhter
Jaffri, Principal Librarian, Mr. Saifullah Azim,
Principal System Analyst and Mr. Muhammad Altaf
Deputy Director (STI), delivered lectures as
Resource Persons.

Meeting regarding “Networking and
Capacity Building of Women Entrepreneurs
from SAARC Countries" at Women
Chamber of Commerce Peshawar
A seminar on “Importance & Protection of Rights on
Intellectual Property of Scientists” was organized by
PASTIC-Peshawar and ORIC, University of
Peshawar on January 17, 2019.
The primary goal of the seminar was to orient the
researchers about the essentials of Intellectual
Property Rights (IPRs), Trade Mark and of process of
filing of Patent application.
A total of 88 scientists from different faculties of
UOP, Swabi University, UET Mardan, UET
Peshawar, Sarhad University Peshawar, Islamia
College University Peshawar & the Agriculture
University Peshawar attended the session.
Mr. Zahoor Ahmad (Manager ORIC-UOP), Mr.
SaifUllah Khan (Deputy Director IPO Pakistan) and
Dr. Zia Obaid (Director, ORIC-UOP) were the key
resource persons and delivered comprehensive talks /
lectures related to the topic. While, Deputy Director
PASTIC Peshawar conveyed a detail introduction
about PASTIC S&T Services for Researchers. Very
interactive question answer session was held towards
the end of every talk. At the end of the session shields
and certificates were distributed among resource
persons, organizers and participants, while 26
researchers filled the demand form, for the
bibliographic service.

Commerce, Peshawar on January 8, 2019.
Dr. Saima Tanveer(Project Director, NCBWESC),
Ms. Ghazala Ali Khan (Deputy Director (STI)) and
Mr. Kashif called upon Ms. Azra Jamshed (President,
WCCI, Peshawar) at Women Chamber of Commerce
and Industries Peshawar, for collaboration in
SAARC Development Fund Project. During the
meeting Dr. Saima Tanveer emphasized the objective
of the project. The president and her team took keen
interest and showed their willingness to work with

PASTIC as per need of the project. Date of meeting /
seminar with Entrepreneurs of the women chamber,
was also mutually decided to be held on February 7,
2019.

"Research Methodology & Hands on
training with SPSS"
PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi arranged a two-day
training Workshop on "Research Methodology &
Hands on training with SPSS" at PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi, on January 2-3, 2019. A total of 12
Participants from different universities and institutes,
including Dow university of Health Science,
University of Karachi ,Jinnah Sindh Medical
University, Karachi Medical and Dental Collage etc
attended the training workshop. Ms. Sara Wahab and
Mr. AamirAnis, Resource Persons from Jinnah Sindh
Medical University gave training on SPSS.
Certificates were distributed at the end of the
workshop.

PASTIC Sub-centre Karachi
PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi arranged a one-day
training Workshop on "Literature Search & Endnote"
at PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi on January 8, 2019. A
total of 10 Participants from different universities and
institutes like, National Institute of Blood Disease &
Bone Marrow Transplantation, Dawood University
of Engineering & Technology, Iqra University, Dow
university of Health Science, University of Karachi,
Aga Khan University & FAST National University of
Computer & Emerging Sciences etc. attended the
training workshop. Mr. Aamir Anis, Resource Person
from Jinnah Sindh Medical University, gave training
on Endnote.

training Workshop on "HEC Plagiarism Policy &

January 3, 2019
PASTIC Sub Centre Faisalabad arranged an
introductory meeting with WFCCI and the Project
Director PASTIC on January 3, 2019 at WFCCI. Miss
Robeena Amjad, President Faisalabad Women
Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI),
address the welcome address, Dr. Saima Huma
Tanveer, Project Director NCBWESC, gave a
comprehensive presentation, and explained the
ultimate objective of this project. Mr. Muhammad
Hasnain, Deputy Director PASTIC, introduced
PASTIC, and stated that it was encouraging young
generation, particularly women, to adopt productive
science subjects, for their future studies.
Awareness Seminars for the
Promotion of PASTIC Services
PASTIC arranged a Services Awareness Seminar at
the following Institute:
Department of Mathematics & Statistics,
University of Agriculture, Faisalabad
PASTIC Services Awareness Seminar was
organized at Department of Mathmatics & Statistics,
University of Agriculture Faisalabad on January 17,
2019. Chairmen, senior faculty members and
students from various departments participated. 120
participants participated in the seminar. Presentation
/Lecture was delivered about PASTIC services by
Mr. Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director PASTIC
Sub-Centre Faisalabad. All appreciated the services
of PASTIC. The session was very interactive.

The PASTIC Sub Centre Faisalabad arranged an
introductory meeting with WMCCI and the Project
Director PASTIC on January 22, 2019 at WMCCI.
Ms. Seerat Fatima, President Multan Women
Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MWCCI),
delivered the welcome address. Dr. Saima Huma
Tanveer, Project Director NCBWESC, gave a
comprehensive presentation, and explained the
ultimate objective of this project. Mr. Muhammad

on January 29, 2019 under Directorate
of Science and Technology (DoST),
Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
An award ceremony of Top KP Scientists was held on
January 29, 2019 at UET, Peshawar under
Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST),
Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ceremony
was attended by Ms. Ghazala Ali Khan, Deputy
Director (STI), PASTIC Sub-Centre Peshawar and
Dr. Syed Aftab Hussain Shah, Senior Scientific
Information Officer PASTIC, Islamabad, Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Hassan Sayyad, Dean, Faculty of
Engineering Sciences, GIK, Top, KPKi and other
august audience. Dr. Khalid Khan, Director DoST
briefed about the award ceremony. The speeches
were delivered by the Chief guests Mr. Mehmood
Jan, Deputy Speaker, KPK, Mr. Kamran Khan
Bangash, Special Assistant to the CM KPK on
Science and Information Technology. At the end of
ceremony, awards were given by the chief guest and
Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Secretary ST & IT, KPK to top
scientist & young investigator.
