One Day Hand's on Training Workshop:
"MENDELEY as Electronic Reference Management Tool”
PASTIC Peshawar in collaboration with Women
University Mardan arranged one day hand's on training
workshop on "MENDELEY as Electronic Reference
Management Tool” on February 16, 2022 at Mardan. Mr.
Habib.ur.Rehman Chief Librarian, University of
Peshawar and Ghazala Ali Kahn Additional Director
PASTIC were the key resource persons. During technical
session-I Mr. Habib delivered a detail presentation on
literature review while Ghazala Ali Khan delivered about
PASTIC literature resources for scientists. In Technical
Session-II students were practically involved to train them
on MENDELEY including installation, collection of
references, creating & managing library. Total 77
participants including faculty members, Director QEC &
ORIC and HoD's (Department of Chemistry, Physics, &
Human Nutrition & Dietetics) attended the training.
Certificates and Shields were distributed at the end of
training among resource person, participants and
organizers.

PASTIC Peshawar in collaboration with Pakistan Forest
Institute (PFI) Peshawar, organize one day seminar on
“Thesis Writing Skills” on February 4, 2022 at PFI-
Peshawar. Ghazala Ali Khan Additional Director PASTIC
participated as resource person and delivered a detail
presentation on “Thesis Writing Skills”.
Mr. Ahmad Zamir, Director Forest Education, along with
faculty members also attended the session. He appreciated
the efforts of PASTIC for continuous support and capacity
building of their students.

PASTIC in collaboration with Islamia College Peshawar
organized a Training Workshop on “PASTIC Koha Cloud
& Symposium on PASTIC Developed Tools for Easy
Resource Sharing Mechanism in Pakistan'' on February 2-
3, 2022 at Islamia College Peshawar. Prof. Dr. Gul Majid
Khan, Vice Chancellor, Islamia College Peshawar, and
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh, DG PASTIC,
participated as guests of honor. Syed Habib Jaffri,
Principal Librarian, PASTIC, Syed Liaqat Ali, HOD,
Library & Information Sciences Department-UOP, Dr-
Saeed Ullah Jan, HOD, Library & Information Sciences
Department-KKKUK ,Mr. Zakaria & Zeeshan Ullah,
Librarian Islamia College Peshawar, joined as key
speakers in this event. Ghazala Ali Khan Additional
Director, PASTIC, and Mr. Tehsin Ullah, Chief Librarian,
Islamia College Peshawar, were Focal Person. The
participants were librarian from all major public private
Universities and Colleges of Peshawar Karak, Swat,
Kohat and Mansehra.

PASTIC in collaboration with Women University of
Multan, the Department of Zoology, organized one day
Workshop on “Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship
for Women Scientists” on February 23, 2022 at Women
University Multan. Total 60 participants from various
discipline participated. After recitation of Holy Quran,
introduction of Workshop was delivered by Dr. Asia Bibi
Chairperson, Department of Zoology. After this the
detailed PASTIC presentation was delivered by Deputy
Director, PASTIC Muhammad Hasnain. Later on Dr.
Aftab Ahmad, Resource person and President NAYS
highlighted the innovation and entrepreneurship for
women scientist.
One day workshop on “Research Innovation and
Entrepreneurship for Women Scientists” at Women
University Multan
Workshop/Training on "Research, Innovation and
Business: Bridging the gap between Academia and
Industry" on February 08-09, 2022 at Rahim Yar Khan.
Total 70 participants from various discipline participated.
The workshop was graced by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Suleman Tahir and DG PASTIC Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Akram Shaikh has joined virtually. Deputy
Director PASTIC Muhammad Hasnain was also present
on the event. The Chairman Department of Textile
Engineering, Mehran University, Jamshoro Prof. Dr.
Zeshan Khatri has joined workshop virtually as a Trainer.
He highlighted the importance of education and acquiring
technical skills. The Vice Chancellor also acknowledges
the role of PASTIC for such activities. At the end PASTIC
presentation was delivered by the Deputy Director
PASTIC Faisalabad. Head of Physics Department Dr.
Bilal Tahir, Director Student Affairs Muhammad Aslam
Khan, Dr. Jallat Khan, Dr. Farhan Chughtai, Dr. Abdul
Rashid, Dr. Ahmed Sohaib, Mr. Shoaib Aziz and others
were also present on the occasion.

At the end a meeting was held with Vice chancellor Dr.

Webinar on "Emerging Skills of Researchers"
Volume 05, Issue 02
PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi, Organized a Webinar on
"Emerging Skills of Researchers” on February 15, 2022 at
PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi. Total 100 researchers of
different universities and R&D Institutions from Sindh,
Punjab, KPK and Baluchistan participated in the webinar.
The session was started with the recitation from the Holy
Quran, followed by a welcome address by Ms Afsheen
Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi, briefed PASTIC services and COVID-19 S&T
information portal through the PASTIC website with a
documentary video of PASTIC / PSF. Dr Samiyah
Tasleem, CEO, Pakistan Education and Health Consultant
Group, Consultant Microbiologist WME, Consultant
Trainer Center Innovation and Transformation,
Researcher University of Karachi and FUUAST
University was the resource person of the workshop. She
gave a detailed presentation about Emerging Skills.

(STI) participated in “38th Annual Congress of Pakistan
Society of Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy “PSG
2022” on February 24, 2022 at Pearl Continental Hotel
Karachi. Event organized by Pakistan Society of
Gastroenterology and G. I. Endoscopy. The event was
attended by distinguished speakers from different leading
i n s t i t u t i o n s w o r l d w i d e a n d a u d i e n c e i n c l u d e
Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, GPs, Family
Physicians and related disciplines. A. D (STI) Visited
different pharmaceuticals / other companies' stalls to
collect industrial data and also brief PASTIC Services to
the Society members for further collaborations.
c. Ms. Afsheen Tariq AD (STI) participated in “18th
Biennial International Scientific Conference Covid -19 A
continuing challenge for Women's Health” on February
25, 2022 at Movenpick Hotel Karachi, organized by The
Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, department of
Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical
Center, Karachi. SOGP President Prof Dr Razia Korejo
and Prof Dr Sadiah Ahsan Pal pay tribute to their fallen
colleagues and highlight their services. The Continuing
Challenge of Covid-19 on women's health is the theme of
t h e C o n f e r e n c e . A . D ( S T I ) v i s i t e d d i ff e r e n t
pharmaceuticals / other companies' stalls to collect
industrial data and also brief PASTIC Services to the
Society members for further collaborations.
d. PSCK officials visited The ICPF - International
Consumer Product Fair on February 25, 2022 at Expo
Centre Karachi to collect industrial data from different
R&D Companies of Karachi.
