Training workshops on EndNote as
Referencing / Citation Tool:
PASTIC organized a one day training workshop on
“EndNote”on February 13, 2020 at the I.T Lab of
PASTIC National Centre, Quaid-e-Azam University
Campus, Islamabad. The objective of the workshop
was to build the capacity of young researchers and
scholars in literature search, organization of pdfs,
creation of in-text citation as well as bibliographies.
Dr. Maryam Ibrar (Senior Scientific Information
Officer) was the Resource Person of the workshop.
Total 17 participants from Quaid-e-Azam University
participated in this hand on training workshop. This
“EndNote” workshop was the part of a series of
trainings which are regularly organized by PASTIC
to train the young researchers and scholars on modern
ICT (Information and Communication Technologies)
tools and techniques useful in research.
A one day hands-on workshop entitled “EndNote as
Referencing Tool”, jointly organized by PASTIC
Peshawar and ORIC-University of Peshawar, on
February 12, 2020 at video conference Hall-
University of Peshawar, with the objective to provide
a platform to the scholars for understanding accurate
referencing in research work/thesis, and also to know
the general principal of applying citing sources for
avoiding plagiarism. 35 participants including
University of Peshawar, Islamia College University
Peshawar, Women University Swabi, Qurtaba
University Peshawar, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto
Women University Peshawar, National Centre of
Excellence in Physical Chemistry-UOP, Institute of
Chemical sciences UOP, Islamia College University-
Peshawar and NIFA-Peshawar, participated in the
workshop.
Mr. Habib Ur Rehman (Chief Librarian, University Of
Peshawar), engaged the participants in practical
session from 9:30am to 04:00 pm.
Seminars on CSTRDLP:
A one day Awareness Seminar on “Consortium of
S&T and R&D Libraries of Pakistan (CSTRDLP)"
was organized at Mehran University of Engineering &
Technology, Jamshoro on February 17, 2020.

Mir Sajjad Hussain Talpur was the Chief Guest at the
Closing Ceremony. Mr. Syed Habib Akhter Jaffri,

(CSTRDLP)" on February 24, 2020 at University of
Sindh, Campus Mirpur khas. In the Opening Session
welcome address was given by Mr. Nadeem Ahmed
Solangi, In-charge Department of English,
University of Sindh, Campus Mirpur khas. Syed
Habib Akhtar Jaffri, Principle Librarian / Project
Coordinator were the resource person of the seminar.
In the closing session, Chief Guest of the seminar
was Prof. Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili, Pro Vice Chancellor,
University of Sindh, Campus Mirpur khas. The
seminar was attended by the librarians from various
educational institutions of Mirpur khas region.

PASTIC Sub-centre Peshawar collaborated and
facilitated a two-day KP Creative Fest 2020, on
February 26-27, 2020 organized by Directorate of
Science & Technology KPK.
350 stalls were organized to facilitate students from
School to University level throughout Khyber
Pakhtunkwa, to provide a chance to innovators
entrepreneurs and hobbyists from general public.
Judges were selected from universities and S&T
organizations. The results were compiled with the
consent of all judges.
Dignitaries from major educational institutions and
Provincial/ Federal Minsters including Mr. Fawad
Chaudary (Federal Minister for S&T), Mr. Zia Ullah
Bangish (Minister for Special Assistant to S&T at
Provincial Level), Prof. Dr. Noushad Khan, Vice
Chancellor, Islamia College University, Peshawar,
were present.
KP Creative Fest 2020
2020 at Green Olive's Restaurant, Peshawar. The
objective of the National Workshop was to present
the Zero Draft of the provincial STI Strategy/policy
to the stakeholders and experts for their views, and
suggestions for improvement. The Workshop
presented a significant opportunity to the
stakeholders and experts to contribute and influence
the shape of the draft of provincial STI Strategy /
policy. More than 500 participants joined the session
from all areas of Pakistan from both S&T/R&D and
educational institutions.

Deputy Director PASTIC participated in a one day
workshop on “Provincial Science, Technology &
Innovation (STI) Strategy / Policy”, on February13,
2nd International Conference on Technical
Textiles event attended by PASTIC ofcial
Mr. Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director STI,
attended 2nd International Conference on Technical
Textiles on February 18, 2020 at National Textile
University Faisalabad. This event was organized by
NTU and HEC. The main objective of this event was
to facilitate interaction between researchers and
professionals working in the field of textile
engineering.
IFAP National Committee meeting
held at UNESCO Ofce Islamabad
PASTIC in collaboration with UNESCO Pakistan
organized a Meeting of IFAP National Committee
Pakistan at UNESCO Office Islamabad on February
12, 2020 (10:30 AM – 12:30 PM).

Pakistan Research Day event attended by
PASTIC officials
The main objective of the meeting was to educate
IFAP National Committee Pakistan on IFAP and
Global priority areas particularly Information
literacy and Media and Information Literacy through
a discussion with Mr. Ricardo De Guimarães Pinto
(IFAP Program specialist).
Mr. Saifullah Azim (Principal System Analyst), Dr.
Maryum Ibrar (Senior Scientific Information
Officer), and Mr. Nabi Bux (Assistant Web Manager)
attended an event on first edition of Pakistan
Research Day, on February 19, 2020 at National
University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).
This event was organized by Web of Science Group, a
Clarivate Analytics company (formerly The IP &
Science business of Thomson Reuters) in
collaboration with NUST. The main objective of this
event was to bring together the research community
of Pakistan to learn and share insight on the research
and innovation landscape Report of Pakistan.
