Training Workshop on “SPSS” at PNC
PASTIC National Center Islamabad organized three days
training workshop on “Research Tools and Techniques
(SPSS)” on February 22-24, 2023. The objective of the
workshop was to enhance the research capabilities of
research scholars and students. Dr. Maryam Ibrar was the
resource person. Altogether 22 research scholars/students
from PIDE, Comsats and Quaid e Azam University
attended the training workshop.
Director General PASTIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram
Shaikh was the chief guest at the closing session. He
briefly introduced PASTIC services and explained the
objective to organize such training workshops. At the
end DG, PASTIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh
distributed the training certificates amongst the
participants.
PASTIC Sub Center Lahore with the collaboration of
The University of Lahore organized one day
Training/workshop on “Citation Management using
Mendeley Software'' held on February 01, 2023, at UOL
Lahore Campus. Training/workshop on Mendeley.
Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf inaugurated the
event. Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director (STI),
PASTIC was the Guest of honor. Mr. Nadeem Sohail,
Official Trainer and Advisor of Mendeley in Pakistan
was the resource person for this workshop.
Altogether 87 faculty members from 17 UOL faculties
and editors/associate editors of 13 research journals
published under the umbrella of UOL attended this
workshop.
After recitation of The Holy Quran, Prof. Dr. Muhammad
Iqbal, Director ORIC and Dean of Faculty of Sciences,
presented the welcome note in which he introduced UOL
and highlighted its role in quality education and role of
Pakistan Science Foundation and PASTIC in capacity
buildings.
Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director (STI) PASTIC,
introduced PASTIC/PSF services. He highlighted that the
purpose of the workshop is to equip faculty
members/research scholars/editors of research journals
with the skills of creating references and citing published
work in research writing.
Chief Guest of the Training/Workshop Prof. Dr.
Muhammad Ashraf, Rector, The University of Lahore,
shared University of Lahore contribution towards
promotion of research culture in University. He valued
this training/workshop and encouraged to arrange such
type of sessions in future to facilitate faculty member's
researchers and scholars.
Mr. Nadeem Sohail, official trainer/adviser on Mendeley,
conducts the session. He theoretically and practically
presented what, why and how citation management is.
In the end, a question/answer session was held with the
workshop participants. The certificate award ceremony
was held under the Chairmanship of the Rector, UOL .In
closing session shields and certificates were distributed
among guests and participants.

PSCK organized a webinar on “Project Writing and
innovation approach” via zoom meeting on February 15,
2023 at PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi. The webinar was
participated by more than 70 research scholars/
HOD's/faculty members of different universities and R&D
Institutions from Sindh, Punjab, KPK & Baluchistan. The
session was started with the recitation from The Holy
Quran, followed by a welcome address by Ms Afsheen
Tariq, Assistant Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi, who also briefed PASTIC services & S&T
information portal through the PASTIC website with a
documentary video of PASTIC/ PSF. Dr. Samiyah
Tasleem, CEO Pakistan Education and Health Consultant
group & Researcher University of Karachi was the
resource person of the webinar. She gave a detailed
presentation about project writing. In the end a fruitful
Question/answers session conducted, A.D (STI) PSCK
appreciated resource person and also thanks to participants
who participated from different provinces of Pakistan.

PASTIC Sub Centre, Faisalabad organized one day
Workshop on “Role of Social Media Tools for Digital
Marketing in the Current Era” on February 8, 2023 at
National Textile University Faisalabad. Total 80
p a r t i c i p a n t s i n c l u d i n g D i r e c t o r s , H O D s , P h D
Researchers, and Students from various faculties had
participated. Session was started with the recitation from
The Holy Quran followed by welcome address by Mr.
Mushtaq Ahmad Senior Librarian. Remarks and
introduction to PASTIC services was delivered by
Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director, PASTIC
Faisalabad. The resource person was Mr. Nadeem Sohail,
Director Library City School System Lahore.
Participants/Scientists also appreciated and paid thanks to
PASTIC efforts to hold a successful workshop.
In the closing session Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Rector
National Textile University was the Chief Guest. Souvenir
and certificates were distributed to Guest, Resource Person
and participants.

attended Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Chemical
Synthesis Laboratory inaugural session & visited poster
presentation contest on February 9, 2023 at the
Department of Chemical Engineering, University of
Karachi.
d. Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) PSCK visited
“Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and
Conference (PIMEC)” on February 11, 2023 at Karachi
Expo Centre. She communicate PASTIC Services & its
role towards Science & Technology to different
universities, R&D organizations and stalls like Lasbela
Prof. Dr. Akram Shaikh DG. PASTIC along with PSF officers
and an external member of “Science Talent Farming Scheme
(STFS)” interviews committee at PSCK.
b. PSCK arranged PASIC Services Awareness stall on
February 9, 2023 at the Department of Chemical
Engineering, University of Karachi. PSCK officials gave
briefing about PASTIC Services and distributed pamphlets
to Students and Scholars. PASTIC Publication was
displayed & Scientist profile data were also collected.
More than 60 faculty members and researchers visited
PASTIC Service Stall.

University of Karachi etc. The conference was organized
by the Pakistan Navy with the commencement of
multinational maritime exercise Aman-2023.

of Technology, Gawadar visited PASTIC Sub Centre
Karachi on February 15, 2023. During meeting Ms.
Afsheen Tariq Assistant Director (STI) briefing PASTIC
