Online workshop on “Innovation in
Pharmacotherapy & Disease Management”
at Jinnah Sindh Medical University Karachi
Workshops
The session was started with the recitation from the
Holy Quran, followed by welcome addresses by Prof.
Dr. Kiran Rafiq and Prof. Dr. Huma Ali from Faculty
of Pharmacy, Jinnah Sindh Medical University,
Karachi. Opening remarks were given by Prof. Dr.
Tariq Rafi, Vice-chancellor, Jinnah Sindh Medical
University. Mr. Abdul Fatah Shaikh, Deputy Director
(STI), PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi, delivered
detailed presentation about PASTIC services. At the
end of the session, closing remarks were delivered by
Prof. Dr. Humaira Ansar, Professor Faculty of
Pharmacy, Jinnah Sindh Medical
University, Karachi.
PASTIC Sub-Centre Karachi in collaboration with
Jinnah Sindh Medical University, organized an online
workshop on “Innovation in Pharmacotherapy &
Disease Management” on December 16, 2020 at
Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi. Total 126
participants of medical sciences participated in the
workshop.

Online Workshop on "Management by using
Mendeley - Reference Management Software''
at Islamia University of Bahawalpur
PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad organized an online
Workshop on "Management by Using Mendeley -
Reference Management Software'' on December 18,
2020 at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Total
98 participants participated in the workshop.
The session was started with the recitation from the
Holy Quran, followed by welcome address by Prof.
Dr. Robina Bhatti, Chairperson Department of
Library Science IUB. Concluding remarks were
delivered by Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob, Vice
C h a n c e l l o r, I U B d u r i n g t h e s e s s i o n . T h e
presentation/training on the workshop was delivered
by the Resource Person, Dr. Maryam Ibrar Shinwari,

Women University of Multan
The session was started with the recitation from the
Holy Quran, followed by welcome address by Mr.
Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director PASTIC
Faisalabad. Concluding remarks were delivered by
Prof. Dr. Asia, Chairperson Department of Zoology,
WUM. The presentation/training on workshop was
delivered by the Resource Person, Dr. Maryam Ibrar
Shinwari, Senior Scientific Information Officer,
PASTIC Islamabad.

PASTIC Sub-Centre Faisalabad organized an online
Workshop on " Management by using Mendeley -
Reference Management Software'' on December 23,
2020 at Women University of Multan. Total 74
participants participated in the workshop.
Launching of China – Pakistan
“CPEC Science Communication Network”
“CPEC Science Communication Network” is
launched on December 3rd 2020 during the 5th
Academic Forum on China-Pakistan Scientific,
Technological and Economic Cooperation under Belt
and Road Initiative jointly by the Beijing Technology
and Business University (BTBU), Beijing Science
and Technology Association (BAST), Beijing
Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST) in
collaboration with Pakistan Science Foundation
(PSF), and Pakistan Scientific & Technological
Information Center (PASTIC). The Launching
Ceremony was chaired by Dr. Di Yuna, Executive
Director, Pakistan Study Center of Science &
Technology and Economy at BTBU.
A Team from Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF),
Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information
Center (PASTIC) and Pakistan Museum of Natural
History (PMNH) comprising of Dr. Ahsan Feroz,
Director IL (PSF), Prof. Dr. Akram Shaikh, Director
General (PASTIC), Dr. Lal Shah, Director General
(PMNH), Dr. Saima Tanveer, Acting Director
(PASTIC) and Mr. Saifullah Zaim, Principal System
Analyst (PASTIC) also participated online in the 5th
Academic Forum on China-Pakistan Scientific,
Technological and Economic Cooperation under Belt
and Road Initiative and the launching ceremony of
“CPEC Science Communication Network”.

Scheme (STFS)” 5th Batch were conducted at
PASTIC National Centre Islamabad (December 09-
10, 2020) along with PASTIC Sub-Centres
Faisalabad (December 21-22, 2020), Lahore
(December 15-16, 2020), Peshawar (December 14-
15, 2020) and Karachi on (December 28-29, 2020).

PASTIC team comprising of DG PASTIC Prof. Dr.

Analyst Mr. Saifullah Azim and Senior Scientific
Officer Dr. Maryam Ibrar Participated in the Online
Webinar on International Cooperation of Scientific
and Technological Organization on December 16,
2020. The webinar was organized by Beijing
Association for Science and Technology (BAST),
China to host an online conversation joined by their
old and new friends from international scientific and
technological organizations to discuss possible ways
to enhance future cooperation on science, technology
and innovation under new conditions and challenges.
During the session DG PASTIC along with other
participants shared proposal of online workshops to
meet new challenges of STI for BAST working plan
of 2021.

Visit of Chairman Pakistan Science
Foundation to PASTIC National Centre,
Islamabad
Dr. Shahid Mehmood Baig, S.I. after joining as the
Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation paid a
courtesy visit to PASTIC National Centre Islamabad
on December 29, 2020. He was accompanied with
Director Research PSF, Dr. Mirza Habib Ali and
Secretary PSF, Dr. Raja Razi ul Hasnain.

The honorable guests were received at PASTIC by
Acting Director PASTIC, Dr. Saima Huma Tanveer
and were taken for a round of PASTIC various
Sections/Services including PASTIC National
Science Reference Library, IT Lab, PASTIC
Reprographic Section (Printing Press), Abstracting
and Indexing Service, Technology Information
Service and Bibliographic and Document Supply
Service etc. The Chairman appreciated the
developments made by PASTIC with the passage of
time.
