Visit of the High Level Committee to Evaluate

Existing Potential

Workshop on "Advance skills in Thesis

Writing"

A High level Committee has been constituted by the
government to evaluate the existing potential of the
organizations under the Ministry of Science &
Technology.

Accordingly two members of the committee, namely Dr.
Shahzad Alam, Chairman PCSIR and Dr Athar Osama
Member S&T, Ministry of Planning, Development &
Reform visited PASTIC to see the facilities and
infrastructure available at PASTIC. Dr. Muhammad
Akram Shaikh also gave a presentation focusing on
PASTIC existing activities and future plans.

PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi organized a one day
Workshop on "Advance skills in Thesis Writing" on
December 11, 2018 at National Institute of Blood
Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation, jointly
organized by PASTIC, Pakistan Science Foundation &
National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow
Transplantation. 32 Participants from diﬀerent
universities i.e NIBD, University of Karachi, Jinnah
Sindh Medical University, Iqra University, Aga Khan
University, Federal Urdu University etc. attended the
Workshop. A presentation was delivered by Dr. Syeda
Sadaf Akbar, Resource Person from Dadabhoy Institute
of Higher Education on Thesis Writing. In the closing
session, Dr. Sadaf Shahab, Associate Professor, Focal
Person from National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone
Marrow Transplantation was
Chief Guest of the Workshop.

PASTIC Sub Centre Karachi organized a one day
Awareness Seminar on "Women's Health & Breast
Cancer" on December 13, 2018 at National Institute of
Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation, jointly
organized by PASTIC/ Pakistan Science Foundation &
National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow
Transplantation. 38 Participants from National Institute
of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow Transplantation,
University of Karachi, Hamdard University etc.,
attended the Seminar. Dr. Muneera Borhani Associate
professor /Consultant Hematologist, Resource Person
from National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone
Marrow Transplantation gave presentation on Breast
Cancer. In the closing session, Dr. Sadaf Shahab,
Associate Professor, Focal Person from National
I n s t i t u t e o f B l o o d D i s e a s e & B o n e M a r r o w
Transplantation was the Chief Guest of the Seminar.

PASTIC Sub Center Quetta organized a PASTIC
Training Workshop on “Research Tools / EndNote” for
Department of Microbiology, University of Balochistan
Quetta, on December 11-12, 2018 at University of
Balochistan with the collaboration of FTDC, for
orientation of the students. 50 Research Scholars
enrolled in M.Phil / Ph.D. program along with 10 faculty
members attended the workshop. Lecture was delivered
about PASTIC services by Mr. Abdul Khalique Sial,
Regional In-Charge, PASTIC Sub Centre, Quetta.
Resource Person, Mr. Munir Ahmed Khan, Assistant
Director, Pakistan Standards & Quality Control
Authority Karachi, delivered the lecture on EndNote
Software. Prof. Dr. Mudasira Israr, Dean Life Sciences,
University of Balochistan, Prof. Dr. Sobia Ramzan,
Chairperson FTDC, University of Balochistan, Dr.

Portal Awareness & Capacity Building
Workshop under SDF funded Project titled
“Networking and Capacity Building of Women
Entrepreneurs (SMEs) from SAARC Countries” at
Bangladesh.

One day workshop on Plagiarism: How Do I
avoid it? and use of Turnitin

PASTIC Sub Centre Lahore, organized one-day
workshop with collaboration of Pakistan Industrial
Technical Assistance Centre, (PITAC) Lahore, on
“Plagiarism: how do I avoid it? & use of Turnitin” on
December 18, 2018 at Pakistan Industrial Technical
Assistance Centre, (PITAC) Lahore. 35 participants
form PITAC, others universities and libraries
participated in this workshop.
Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Deputy Director (STI), PASTIC Sub
Centre, Lahore introduced PASTIC its services and
achievements.
Mr. Nadeem Sohail, Manager Library, organized
technical session theoretically and practically, on
Plagiarism: How do I avoid it? & use of Turnitin, for
researchers.
At the end, shields were distributed among guests and
resource persons, and the participants received their
certiﬁcates.

3-Days Portal Awareness & Capacity Building
Workshop was organized by PASTIC under SDF funded
Project titled “Networking and Capacity Building of
Women Entrepreneurs (SMEs) from SAARC
Countries” at Porjoton Motel, Rajshahi, Bangladesh on
December 11-13, 2018.

Dr. Saima Tanveer (Project Director, NCBWESC) presented
a shield from PASTIC, Pakistan to Mr. Pejush Datta (Project
Coordinator, BWCCI) at the closing ceremony.

PASTIC

PASTIC is executing a Project titled “Networking and
Capacity Building of Women Entrepreneurs (SMEs)
from SAARC Countries” which is being funded by
SSAARC Development Fund. All the SAARC member
countries are the beneﬁciaries of this project.

Seminar/workshop on Literature Searching
and Organizing, Using Emerging Technologies

The main activities being carried out under the project
include a) development of SAARC Women SMEs Web
Portal by PASTIC, b) development of database of more
than 1600 SAARC Women SMEs (from all the 8
countries) and c) Portal Awareness and ICT Capacity
Building Workshop for 850 SAARC Women SMEs (two
workshops in each country).

Organizing, using Emerging Technologies, in
collaboration with ORIC Ghazi University D.G. Khan
on December 7, 2018.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Vice
Chancellor, Ghazi University, was the Chief Guest. The
session was attended by 75 participants (faculty
members, Library Staﬀ and Graduate students of the
Ghazi University).

Mechatronics & Control Engineering
Department, University of Engineering &
Technology Lahore

PASTIC Sub Centre Lahore organized an Awareness
Seminar for Mechatronics & Control Engineering
Department, University of Engineering & Technology
Lahore, on December 5, 2018, at University of
Engineering & Technology Lahore, for orientation of
the students. 27 Research Scholars enrolled in MS/
M.Phil program, along with three faculty members
attended the seminar. Lecture/Presentation was
delivered about PASTIC services by Mr. Ali Raza Khan,
Deputy Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre Lahore. The
Chief Guest was the Chairman of Department, Prof. Dr.
Ali Raza.

Zoology Department, University of Peshawar

PASTIC National Center and its sub-centers regularly
organize information services stalls all over the country,
wherein PASTIC publications are displayed and
membership forms/pamphlets are distributed, and the
visitors are briefed about PASTIC services. In
continuation of this regular activity following stalls were
organized during the month of December 2018 at the
following places:-

PASTIC Sub-centre Faisalabad organized PASTIC
Services Awareness Seminar at NIAB Auditorium on
November 7, 2018. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, Director NIAB,
CSOs, PSOs and students from all the departments
participated. The number of participants was 70.
Presentation was delivered about PASTIC services by
Mr. Muhammad Hasnain, Deputy Director PASTIC
Sub-Centre Faisalabad.

Govt College University Faisalabad

PASTIC sub Centre Peshawar organized a one day
awareness Seminar, titled: PASTIC S&T Services for
young Researchers of Zoology Department, University
of Peshawar on December 07, 2018. Deputy Director
PASTIC-Peshawar shared PASTIC/PSF S&T activities
with the participants in detail through PASTIC web page,
and also gave short practical brief on research
methodology adopted by PASTIC through online data
bases. A total of 41 Students from M.Sc ﬁnal attended the
presentation. During the presentation the students were
briefed that how they can get beneﬁt from PASTIC
online resources and the way to ﬁll Bibliographic /
Documentation request form and send online. A very
eﬀective question answer session held at the end of the
presentation. PASTIC services broachers were
distributed among them.
