Webinar on "EndNote:Make Your research life
easier''at Peshawar
PASTIC Sub centre, Karachi organized 2- days training
workshop on “First Aid during Disaster Management &
Research Lab Incidents” on April 05-06, 2022 in
collaboration with Federal Urdu University of Arts
Science & Technology and Pakistan Society for
Microbiology at Federal Urdu University, Karachi. More
than 80 participants including faculty research scholars,
and students from Federal Urdu University attended the
workshop.
The inaugural ceremony started with the recitation from
the Holy Quran, followed by the welcome remarks by Dr.
Sadia Khalil, Assistant Professor, Federal Urdu
University. Ms. Afsheen Tariq, Assistant Director (STI),
introduced PASTIC services, explained the role of
Pakistan Science Foundation and PASTIC in capacity
building of research community and also highlighted its
new S&T and R&D Databases.Dr. Rizwana Wasif,
Coordinator Red Crescent Society Pakistan highlighted
the role of Red Crescent Society in disaster management.
Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Registrar, Federal Urdu University
encouraged the efforts made by PASTIC for the
arrangement of the training. Dr. Syed Hassan, Mr. Adnan
and Dr. Mussarat from Pakistan Red Crescent Society
taught students different ways to deal with critical
situations and provide medical aid in research lab
incidents. The session was followed by hands-on practice,
wherein trainers practically taught the recovery positions
to manage unconscious, burns types, toxin, dog bit, current
causality etc.

PASTIC Sub Centre, Peshawar in collaboration with
ORIC-IoBM organized one day webinar on "How to
insert in-text Citations and create Bibliography using
EndNote” on April 27, 2022 at PASTIC Sub centre,
Peshawar (PSCP). Around 63 researchers from different
universities and R&D institutions from KPK, Sindh,
Punjab & Islamabad participated in the webinar. Ms.
Ghazala Ali Khan, Additional Director (STI), PSCP,
briefed PASTIC-PSF services. The resource person, Dr.
Noreen Asim, Assistant Professor,
Institute of
Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (IBGE), The
Agriculture University, Peshawar gave a detailed
presentation about EndNote skills including the tasks to
create/update the library and its articles, access article
from library and library sharing with colleagues and
friends.

In the closing session, Chief Guest Dr. Shahana Urooj
Kazmi, Vice Chancellor, Women University Swabi, KPK
& Director Institute of Public Health Research – LCMS-
Karachi pointed towards the need of promotion of
research culture in the University. She valued this training
workshop and encouraged to arrange such type of
sessions in future to facilitate faculty members
researchers and scholars. Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, Registrar,
FUUAST distributed shields among trainers, organizers
and certificates among participants.

PASTIC Sub Centre, Karachi Organized one- day webinar
on "Effective Presentation Skills of a Researcher” on
April 20, 2022. 100 researchers of different universities
and R&D institutions from Sindh, Punjab, KPK &
Balochistan participated the webinar.The session was
started with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed
by the welcome address by Ms Afsheen Tariq, Assistant
Director (STI), PASTIC Sub Centre, Karachi. She also
briefed PASTIC services and S&T information portal
through the PASTIC website with a documentary video.
Dr. Samiyah Tasleem, CEO (Pakistan Education and
Health Consultant Group), Consultant Microbiologist
WME, Consultant Trainer Center Innovation and
Transformation, Researcher University of Karachi and
FUUAST University was the resource person of the
workshop.She gave a detailed presentation on
development of presentation skills
Muhammad Khalid , Additional Director (STI), PASTIC
Sub Centre, Karachi has retired from PASTIC service on
April 30, 2022. An official farewell party was organized in
his honor at PASTIC Sub Centre, Karachi.Officer /
officials presented him shield and souvenir.
