PASTIC Organises Webinar on “LaTeX for Scientific Writing”

Islamabad, September 04, 2026: The Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), National Center, Islamabad, organised a webinar on “LaTeX for Scientific Writing” on 04 September 2026, which was attended by 70 researchers, faculty members, and students from universities and research organisations across Pakistan.

The webinar was aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of scientific writing and introducing them to LaTeX, a widely used document preparation system for producing professionally formatted research papers, theses, technical reports, and other scholarly documents.

During the session, participants were provided with a basic introduction to scientific writing and its significance in academic and research work. The webinar also highlighted the applications and benefits of LaTeX in preparing structured and professionally formatted research manuscripts.

A practical introduction to Overleaf, a web-based platform for creating and collaboratively editing LaTeX documents, was also provided. Participants were familiarised with commonly used LaTeX commands, document structure, formatting techniques, and essential components required for preparing a basic research paper.

The session provided participants with a practical starting point for adopting LaTeX in their academic and research writing, particularly for developing well-structured and professionally formatted manuscripts and technical documents.

The webinar received an encouraging response, with active participation from researchers, faculty members, and students representing universities and organisations from different parts of the country. The initiative reflects PASTIC’s continued efforts to strengthen research capacity, promote modern research tools, and enhance scientific and academic writing skills among Pakistan’s research community.

PASTIC will continue to organise such capacity-building initiatives to facilitate researchers, academics, and students in acquiring relevant skills and utilising modern tools and technologies for research and scholarly communication.
